We had such a lovely stay! The lodge has the most stunning views of Loch Leven, and it is only a few minutes walk down to the loch. Shona was very kind to communicate with us in advance of and during the stay— we felt well looked after. The lodge was a short drive to the train into Edinburgh, where we were able to enjoy the Fringe festival and see the Tattoo. It was great to stay in such a beautiful, peaceful place while still having access to Edinburgh. Beds were very comfortable, we were able to dine indoors and outdoors, and we were only a short distance away from Loch Leven’s Larder (definitely stop down there for a coffee and breakfast). Would love to return to Balgedie at some point.

This cottage is a little slice of heaven. The lodge is beautiful, clean, comfortable and just excellent for what we needed. We could have stared at the Loch for ages. Not one of us was ready to leave.

Wonderful, cosy and comfortable cottage.

We’ve just returned from a lovely short break and can highly recommend staying at the Gate Lodge. Super-comfy beds, soft, thick towels, a well equipped kitchen and cosy sitting room with an open fire are just a few of the features we loved. Thanks for the wine and biscuits that were waiting for us on arrival too!

Scotland winter

Really nice cottage, perfect for the family. Great location to explore the local and wider area, Edinburgh, St Andrews and mountains all within reach. Local loch beautiful. Shona very helpful, and really easy to deal with.

Wonderful place

The Cottage is the most wonderful place to stay at Loch Leven. The views are stunning, the cottage cosy and absolutely tidy and Shona and Mary are the most nice persons. Everything you need to feel at home is provided. We enjoyed our time very, very much and we are sure to come back. We can highly recommend it.

Lovely,cosy cottage

We had a lovely stay. Cottage is cosy and welcoming. Owners sorted a problem with the water heating very quickly. And when we arrived a lovely bottle of wine and box of chocolate biscuits was waiting for us which was very nice. Great walks locally and many attractions within local area. And the views are amazing.

Beautiful gate house

Lovely views, lots of privacy, super comfy beds. Very walkable to Loch Leven Larder and the Balgedie Toll (2 of our favorite places every time we visit Scotland to visit family). Small and feels like staying at your grandma’s cozy little house. Just what we needed. Thank you!

Comfortable holiday house

Very comfortable house, well fitted out, superb sunroom with wonderful views of Loch Leven. Lovely enclosed garden with good outside furniture and barbecue. Rather noisy as right on the road and not easy to get out of driveway. Owner very friendly and welcoming.

Very cute stay

The cottage is nice and quiet, easy to reach and has everything you need. It could have more cutlery for convenience, but still the kitchen is well equipped. There are many things to do nearby and the lake view in the evening is stunning. It says in the description that there‘s a whirlpool - but there isn‘t. All in all very nice little stay.

Jones family vacation

We had a great time! The property is exactly as advertised! We used the house as a base to try to visit as much as possible. Our friendly host meet us at the door even though we arrived very late! We took her advise and visited Loch Leven and Falkland and they were well worth the time. I wish we had more time! We would highly recommend and really enjoyed the gardens and views.

Excellent Location for Exploring Locally and Beyond

Very easy corresponding with Shona (and nice to meet her too). We had two small dogs and it was no problem with them in the enclosed in the lovely garden and some great walks in the area - and up the hill for wonderful views near the Gate Lodge. There are fabulous views across to the Loch from the garden and the Lodge.. We had to endure some wet days so the Lodge was cosy to return to in the afternoons/evenings. The washer/dryer was useful for wet clothes! Welll equipped and the bathrooms, in particular, have been done done up nicely. Lots of space for the two of us using the two double rooms. If we had stayed longer, we’d have played some of the many games there. Lots of information leaflets too.

An excellent cottage in an ideal location. We were unlucky in that previous occupants must have had dogs and there was a strong smell of wet dog especially in the lounge and shower room. It took until mid week to clear with lots of open windows and perfume spraying. However, cleanliness otherwise was very good. The cottage was well equipped apart from saucepans. We had to buy one as there were not two large enough to cook pasta and a sauce for 5 adults. The frying pans had seen better days. On the whole we would recommend it, especially if you are ok with dogs.

Es ist eine sehr tolle Unterkunft, sehr stilvoll eingerichtet und durch frische Blumen mit einer persönlichen Note versehen, so dass man sich willkommen fühlt. Der Blick auf den Loch Leven ist fantastisch.Einzig, die Straße, die direkt vor dem Grundstück entlang führt ist laut und stört. Aber der Rest entschädigt

Lovely views

Great place to sit and take in the view over loch Leven. We weren’t lucky with the weather but made use of the toys, jigsaws and books available.

A beautiful and clean cottage in stunning surrounding.

We stayed in the Balgedie Cottage two nights and could not be happier. The surrounding and the cottage itself are beautiful. Cottage is lovely decorated and very comfortable. In colder months (we stayed in October) you can easily bump up the heating to make it all cosy. Shona the owner was very helpful and went over and beyond to resolve any minor (very minor) issues. The area is stunning with woodland walks and hills at the back. Kids also loved it, particulary seeing how real potatoes grow! ;) Highly highly recommended and we will be returning!

Great family holiday

Very comfortable family house and well equipped for children and a dog. Great views of Loch Leven and lovely space to sit and relax.

Fantastic week in Kinross

We had a fantastic week in Kinross. The area is gorgeous and so is the lodge we stayed in. The process of booking, communication, facilities, cleanliness etc.. were excellent. we will come back in a year or two as there is so much to see still. Thank you

Easter Balgedie Ferienhaus

Das Ferienhaus ist sehr schön mit sehr guter Ausstattung. Es hat einen wunderschönen Blick auf de Loch Leven.

Loved Our Stay

This was a perfect vacation home for our family. We loved the local larder and tavern, the hiking and golf nearby, and the views!!! The cottage was clean and comfortable.
