Hi Jeff, Thanks for staying with us. I'm sorry to hear that you had a bug problem. I've never had a complaint about mosquitos at Colony Cove but being so close to the beach, we do get the no-see ums ( tiny beach gnats ) from time to time. They are most prevalent closer to the beach and low to the ground. Since you were ground floor near the beach and pool I'm betting that you experienced the no-see-ums and not mosquitos. Your friends were at the back of the complex, away from the beach and third floor which is why they would not have no-see-ums. Thank you for the heads up about the AC. I found the bedroom AC units working fine but the living room blowing not so cool air and have called for service. All of our units at Colony Cove are privately owned and have different owners. Some are nicer or have more upgrades/amenities and those units are priced accordingly. Thanks again for being our guest and we do hope to see you again, Thanks ! Earl

Hi Linda, I'm sorry that you did not enjoy the condo. The beds are brand new and they look exactly like the photos on VRBO so I really do not know what "ok" means. Thank you for the feedback on the loose bath sink...a simple squirt of Liquid Nails will fix that. Again, the baths look exactly like the photos and there are no plumbing issues so again I do not know what to make of "terrible" as that really tells me nothing. Did you not like the style? the color? what? You were here for an entire MONTH and I visited you several times and ran into you in the parking lot more than once and you said nothing so this surprises me a bit. Hope you enjoyed your time on island and will visit again. thanks Earl

Hi Daniela, Thanks for staying with us and for taking time to write a review. I'm sorry you had to put up with the Sargasso grass...never used to be a problem but recently we have been getting a lot of it. And good point to future guests...go west...the west end beaches never get it so Rainbow and Dorsch Beach are always a good bet. Thank you for the heads up on the kitchenware as well....I will be sure to check that out. I hope the new AC helped out and I feel bad that you had to sleep in the living room AC. It did take me a bit to get approval from the owner for it..... Since you told me that it WAS cooling, but only down to 78 degrees, the owner was a little reluctant to replace it. I explained that you told me that where you were from you were not accustomed to the heat and so he agreed to spend the $500.00 on a new AC for you. We hope that you will come visit again..and yes...come in Nov-April...it's much cooler at night and we do not have the Sargasso sea grass during that time. thanks again ! Earl

Hi Sheila, Thank you for staying with us and for providing feedback on your stay. I checked the unit and did find that we could use some new pots and pans and that the living room slider screens needed repair. However, I did find that all the windows worked as well as the master bedroom slider. All that was required there was to lift the security bar that holds the door shut. I was a little confused about it being dated. The owner has actually spent quite a bit of money here over the past two years. All the floor tile is brand new as well as the living room furniture, bedroom furniture and the 50" TV in the living room. I hope you had a great time on St Croix and will visit again. thanks ! Earl

Hi Fred, Thanks so much for staying with us at A Shore Thing. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay on the island. The Sargasso HAS been bad this year and I feel bad for those who are here for only a week or two and have to smell that and not get enjoyment of the great little beach we have right in front of Colony Cove. I do think that this might be something that we have to deal with each year. Future guests reading this may want to consider that for travel in late summer and consider a trip between Oct and June instead when we don't typically have this issue.
