We really enjoy providing our home to visitors and we are very pleased Dennis and his family enjoyed their stay. His family were great guests ! The mattress in the master bedroom is a full pillow top mattress. We receive many compliments as you can read in past reviews but once in a while a guest prefers some other mattress. The master bath has no mold. The adhesive we used under the shower door caulking is a darker color and we believe Dennis mistook that for mold.

We appreciate this guest providing honest feedback. This guest left the home in very good condition and it was delight hosting her ! We do get a lot of positive comments about the layout of the large upstairs great room. The open layout is great for large groups socializing. The bedroom furniture is less than 4 years old and are from Broyhill. However, since she thought it was worth mentioning, we will find some changes we can make to enhance the satisfaction. We enjoyed hosting Angela, a nice guest. First off, we study our reviews very closely, and use them as a tool to improve. Based on Angela's comments about the cookware, we have replaced all of our cookware with a stainless set. Thanks Angela. This home is located in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, which can be subtropical in the summertime. The humidity in these mountains is high in the summer. We do provide a dehumidifier to knock that humidity down. Our fireplace is serviced every year. But fireplaces will always smell like fireplaces. It looks like the reason that Angela noticed the smell more was because she had the flu open, which was drawing in air from the outside into the home through the fireplace. Closing the flu reduces the smell considerably. We wish Angela well !

Melissa called the day she arrived concerned about a musty smell in the lower floor. After we determined there was nothing malfunctioning in the home, we offered her a full refund to allow her to find other accommodations. She actually decided to complete the entire stay and we STILL refunded 1/2 her stay as a gesture and compensation for her dissatisfaction. We are disappointed the home fell short of her expectations. Each time Melissa contacted us about her concerns her calls and emails were answered within 30 minutes. Once she departed we immediately investigated the home and could not detect any odd smells. In the 20 years we have been renting this home we have never had this type of complaint. We have asked some guests who also stayed around the same time as Melissa to comment if they noticed any smells. We found 12 towels available, not 4. Some were located in the vanity cabinets and it looks like she may not have checked there. We contacted the housekeeping team to ask about damp linens not completely dried after washing and asked them to be aware of this complaint in the future. The hot tub complaint she mentioned were leaves that had fallen in after the hot tub had been refilled. The hot tub is cleaned and refilled after every guest departure. So the dirtiness she is referring to were some leaves floating on top. We apologize for the leaves. Melissa is right, there was a piece of discarded candy wrapper under the sofa. We apologize for this candy wrapper also. It's always sad when a guest travels to our home and is not completely satisfied. We have passed all of Melissa's comments to our housekeeping team.
