Welcome to Swan Sea Retreat, a spacious hilltop residence nested in a quiet and peaceful residential area of the popular suburb Sandy Bay.

Sitting on a high ride above Hobart's West Coast, this house boasts stunning 360-degree views of Sandy Bay's Long Beach, Hobart Harbour, Wrest Point, iconic Tasman Bridge, and its picturesque surroundings.

Enjoy the private and spacious Swan Sea Retreat, while still being within minutes of all the best amenities in town!

The Space:
This beautifully designed house is nestled in historic Sandy Bay, and has been labelled as an urban retreat in the inner city it is the perfect base to explore Hobart and beyond.

The main living/dining area is spacious, sunny & light filled and open plan, with access directly onto a private outside deck with the stunning River Derwent view!

Swan Sea Retreat is 3 minutes to Sandy Bay's Long beach, 2 minutes to the closest grocery stores, and 10 minutes to Hobart CBD.

The carport and driveway can park up to two cars. There is also another additional on-street parking in front of the house.

There are two main bus routes that directly go to the CBD: route 401 and route 402. For more information regarding bus stops and timetables, please visit the MetroTas website.

Our stay at this property was very disappointing due to several issues that affected our comfort and enjoyment.When we arrived, the entrance area was not clean, and the interior also appeared dusty and poorly maintained. The carpets were noticeably dirty. The bathroom had no soap provided. The TV had no signal throughout our stay, and the reverse-cycle air-conditioning did not heat the house. At one point it switched on unexpectedly and could not be turned off, leaving the home extremely cold and uncomfortable.The main bedroom had only decorative pillows. We later found additional pillows in a wardrobe, but no pillowcases were supplied. Some blinds and curtains were not functioning properly. In the kitchen, there were no teaspoons, very few drinking glasses, and the frying pan was old and not usable for cooking. We also found a broom without a handle, which reflects the overall condition of the property.We contacted support several times during our stay. Although responses were polite, none of the issues were resolved and no one attended the property despite being told that someone would. This left us without heating, without a working TV, and without adequate kitchen items for our entire stay.Overall, the property did not meet the standard we expected based on its listing. We hope the host and platform address these issues promptly, as they significantly impacted our holiday.Date of arrival: 19 November 2025Reservation ID: HA-HOqcbXZ

The property itself is very good and its position on the side of the hill overlooking Hobart is outstanding and we had a wonderful weekend. However, I have to mention that we have used many Stayz properties over the years, and this property was the most inadequately presented property of all. During our time in the house, we contacted the person who let us in and listed all of the maintenance jobs that needed attention. Venetian blinds damaged, lights above the basin not working, missing knob on kitchen cupboard, screw missing in back plate of door handle. Besides this the kitchen cutlery was inadequate - one teaspoon and very few ladles for cooking. I mention all these issues in this review not to be cranky but that future customers might report that these issues have been attended to, and the property has been returned to the potential it has of being one of the best places to stay in Hobart.

Incredible views. The driveway is steep, but no issues with street parking. Very comfortable and spacious for a family. Location worked well for us.

Brilliant views and location, just needs a bit of TLC

The house has amazing views, is large and comfortable, beds good, kitchen good, however it needs some TLC. Most the window furnishings need replacing as many were broken and detracted from the experience. The kitchen has no ovenware or anything to make coffee with, and virtually no cooking utensils. Just lacking a bit of polish, but a good comfortable home, with amazing views.

View was fantastic, however the 2nd bathroom could do with an upgrade to shower screen and a mirror would be a good inclusion. The linen also could do with a replacement, but overall the stay was OK , however after the improvements rating would be a 5

First time visitors to Tasmania with a wonderful house to base from. Friendly and warm communication with owners made for an easy and seamless checkin. A lovely house with stunning views accommodated our families comfortably. Would stay again.

What a view

Amazing location with spectacular views over Hobart, the river and ranges. Stayed here as a family of 5 and there was plenty of space. Thanks for making the whole stay a great experience. Would definitely recommend!
