A very grand historical home that sits overlooking Lake Michigan. The screened in back porch is a perfect spot to sit and listen to the lske and the birds with a cup of coffee. And the owner was so very helpful with ideas/suggestions of restaurants etc in the area to try. Can’t wait to return.

The Orchard House is incredible. The private beach is what vacation dreams are made of. Our kids loved to swim while others in our group preferred to enjoy the natural beauty from the upstairs deck with the posted spectacular view. Drinking coffee on the screened porch and a glass of wine while enjoying the sunset are just a few awesome moments of our trip. The Orchard House is the best place to relax and enjoy quality time with your loved ones.Thank you, Eve! We are already looking forward to coming back!

Amazing Stay on Lake Michigan

We absolutely loved our stay here! We had 2 families (4 adults and 4 kids) plus a dog. There was plenty of room for everyone. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. I think the only thing they didn't provide was beach towels - which were easy enough to bring ourselves. The house is old, but very clean. Eve was easy to communicate with. She was very responsive and answered all our questions. We were celebrating my husbands birthday and she left us a delicious apply pie from a local bakery. The best part was hands-down the direct access to the beach. It was PERFECT. The steps down to the beach are closer than they look in pictures - maybe 30 yards? So very easy to run back and forth between the house and beach. The beach itself was beautiful and not crowded at all. We barely saw any other people and if we did they were further away. Would definitely recommend and would definitely come back!

Charming Orchard House with fantastic lake access

We absolutely loved our stay at The Orchard House! This quaint, historic home is full of charm and character, and its location couldn’t have been better. Nestled just far enough from the busy Saugatuck area, it offered peace and privacy while still being close to town for great shopping and restaurants.One of the biggest highlights was the access to the private beach—it felt like our own little slice of Lake Michigan. We spent hours relaxing by the water and hunting for rocks. The house had everything we needed for a cozy weekend getaway, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful touches throughout, from the collection of games and blankets, to the little details that made it feel like a true home away from home.A quick note for future guests: the stairs inside the house and down to the beach are on the steeper side, so those with mobility concerns may want to plan accordingly.We can't wait to come back and make even more memories at this special spot. Highly recommend!

Amazing Girls' Weekend!

We celebrated a bachelorette party over memorial day weekend at the adorable Orchard House. The heating system kept up well during chilly evenings and Eve had the house stocked with all the necessities, and more! The property is so peaceful and the private beach is excellent. We loved the charm of this house and the fact it has been in the owner's family since it was built. The beds were SO comfortable as well. I would love to come stay again!

Beautiful house and views with great host

First of all, the house is a beautiful old home with lots of history. Everything is so comfy. The view is really gorgeous. But the highlight for me was the host. Eve was really responsive throughout the experience, starting with questions I sent before I booked. She left a lovely welcome gift. I ended up needing emergency surgery while there, and she was so helpful with logistical problems from that. I will definitely return to this property.

Wonderful retreat

I am so glad we found this gem! From the minute you walk in you feel the history of the home. The furnishings are beautiful! The home is roomy- I had 6 kids in the house and it didn’t feel cramped. The beach is awesome. The spot to catch the sunset was our favorite spot. The owner lives next door and was very attentive. I will rent again!!

Dream vacation at the beach

So so pleasantly surprised to walk into a rental to find it EXACTLY as presented and described. Perfect for our group of 5 adults & two toddlers, as well as our family reunion of 18. Lazy days & nights on the beach and plenty of room to hang out in the house. Especially nice to have enough room for folks to get a little private time. Only suggestion would be the addition of a washing machine. Thanks Eve!

Beautiful setting in a classic old cottage. Close to Saugutuck/Douglas for dining and shopping. Best time at the beach, swimming and rock hunting.

Family week on Lake Michigan

The location of Orchard House can't be beat. Right on Lake Michigan, with private stsirs to the beach. The home is a lovely and historic house with plenty of common spaces, both indoors and out. Would definitely come back!

Beautiful lake, nice beath

Met our expectations. Owners were super responsive to all text messages and left us a lovely pie for our stay as well :) Very close to several nice towns to visit in West Michigan.

Lucky to call this place home for a few days while in Michigan

Unique, memorable and fun spot to call home for a few days while in Michigan for a wedding. Was able to host extended family for a beach day while there. Communication from property owner was great, enough space to sleep 9 comfortably. A great find!

Perfect family time together!

We loved the old 1855 house! The antiques, old books, historical layout of the house, the deck overlooking the lake, the private beach, the creek for the kids to play in, so many interesting stones, all made for the best memories. The beds were so pretty and fit with the decor. The kitchen was well equipped. Eve was so kind to leave welcoming gifts. The website said pet friendly, but we were surprised by the $300 fee as it was not stated on the website information page. We hope to rent the Orchard House again!

The Orchard House never disappoints

This is my favorite place to stay in southwest Michigan because we can skip down to South Haven/ St Joe or up to Douglas/ Saugatuck. However we hardly leave; the beach and lake are always calling. This House has so many stories to tell, and when we return, I always feel like I'm visiting an old friend. Thank you Eve!

Great trip, great friends, great area!

4 ladies celebrating 75th birthdays. Terrific location. Loved the platform overlooking the lake for evening wine drinking! Easy access to nearby towns. Totally enjoyed our time and the house!

Women's Gathering

We are a group of six women who gathered for both personal,individual time, as well as time together. We found the house to be welcoming, clean and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us, even on a rainy day. The beach and lake are breathtaking day and night. We enjoyed the stars and campfires on the private beach at night and swimming and long walks during the day. Eve is a friendly and very responsive host. Hoping to return!

Didn’t want to leave!

It was like walking into the movie On Golden Pond! Opening the door to a room all aglow from the sun setting over lake MI was a perfect welcome. We were in town from CA visiting family and this was our first stop. We had planned to make day trips all the way up the coast to Benzonia to see the Gwen Frostic studio but there was so much to see and enjoy in the area that we didn’t stray too far. We spent mornings on the deck overlooking the bluff and evenings on the screened in porch with our drinks and crosswords. We made most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. Brought our own bottled water for tea etc. The breeze kept the mosquitos away. We didn’t turn on the tv and enjoyed the unplugging! My 90 yr old mom even took the stairs down to the beach to look for stones and watch us swim. Water shoes were good to have for the rocks until you got to the sandy bottom just past the shoreline. We had super weather and were lucky to get a Pure Michigan thunderstorm just before our last day! :) The sound of the waves at night with the breeze through the pines was a dreamy way to fall asleep. The beds were super comfy and we left the windows open to cool down the house at night. Eve and Tim were perfect hosts and made us feel welcome. The Orchard House was hard to leave but we look forward to coming back next summer and stay longer!

Charming Historical Home

My family enjoyed staying in this delightful historical home. It has so much character and has been well maintained by the owners. A real gem on the Lake MI shoreline. The host was very responsive to our questions and the welcome gift was a nice surprise!
