We were visiting Ruidoso for the first time related to the Ironman triathlon and really enjoyed our stay at the Aurora Montealis cabin. The views were beautiful and it felt very tranquil being higher up the mountain/hill. The cabin was well equipped for all of our needs. As the owners have warned in their listing, the driveway is step and has several sharp switchbacks. Long vehicles will have a difficult time and would definitely need 4-wheel drive and/or chains in the winter. We were in a 2-wheel drive Suburban and we managed but it took a bit of work. Highly recommend this place and would be happy to return for another stay.

Our stay was amazing! Though we spent very little in the cabin as we went sight seeing all three days until late evening. However, the balcony late in the evening and the early morning was PRICELESS! The views, smells, and tranquillity we experienced was the best medicine for our souls. Thank You!

Spring break trip

best place for a mini vacation

The cabin had all the necessities. The furnishings are a little outdated. The cabin feels undeveloped while walking around. The view was the best thing. The driveway was very steep and had two hairpin turns. We didn’t know this until just before we got there. We have a full size suv and weren’t able to make the second turn. We had to walk our luggage up the final incline. We didn’t feel comfortable driving up and down this driveway.

Beautiful view!

The house was very inviting. The switch back was a little tricky at first but got hang of it quickly. It was the perfect get away! I would stay again!

The house was great but the driveway was a little scary. The view was great and the neighborhood was quiet.

Absolutely beautiful!

Beautiful location! Lots of wildlife (deer, elk, many different kinds of birds. Quiet area. Close to town but not too close! Cabin is very nice! Clean and well stocked. I look forward to my next stay!

Family Winter Vacation

Weekend Getaway

I enjoyed our stay. It was beautiful, calm, and quiet. The cabin was clean. We enjoyed ourselves and it was very relaxing. The only thing I would have enjoyed more is, if there was a fire pit outside. It’s a beautiful view and it would have been nice to be sitting out there cozy and warm. Will definitely stay again!

Great views with challenging driveway

This is a nice house with fabulous decks and splendid mountain views. We were greeted by elk and deer in the mornings. Kitchen is well stocked and bed is comfortable. The gravel driveway requires several maneuvers to traverse successfully. It includes three sharp, z-shaped switchbacks, so make sure your driving skills are up to par if you want to stay here.

Spring break

Was supposed to be 2 nights we only got one. Bad winds kept us from traveling on Friday. Finally arrived Saturday. Great relaxing day and evening!

Weekend stay

Nice property for 4 people to stay in. Overall clean property and comfortable. For me there were too many different emails coming from different companies involved from reservations, checkin/out and the property management. Would be less confusing if only one company contacted renter. Kitchen had basics, but could be a bit better stocked for cooking basic breakfast and dinner items. Had to use the broiler pan to make some biscuits as there was nothing else.

Great place

We enjoyed staying here. We have stayed many different places in Ruidoso and enjoyed the central location of this cabin. As others have said the driveway is very steep! It rained a lot while we were there and caused ruts that just made the driveway even harder to get up and down. Good thing we had a Jeep. I would Not recommend staying here if you don’t have a 4 wheel drive. This cabin is in a neighborhood in town right off of the main road so it is not secluded or very quiet. One of the neighbors had a motorcycle so it was a fairly noisy area. But other than that and the driveway it was a great place to stay.
