Rock Cottage sits on the village green in the heart of rural Crosthwaite, a sleepy location in the heart of the Lyth Valley, which was recently noted by ’Lonely Planet’ as one of the most beautiful places on Earth. A mere five miles from both Bowness to the north and the medieval market town of Kendal to the east, Rock Cottage proves a great base for exploring the local area either by car, on foot or by bike.

The Lyth Valley is renowned for its damsons. In April, the hedgerows and orchards are awash with white blossom, ready for the annual Damson Day, where products such as damson gin and jams, made from the previous year’s harvest, are sold.
Mid terraced, Rock Cottage has all the ingredients you would expect from a countryside cottage including exposed beams and a warming wood burning stove. Set out across three floors, the cottage is well equipped for a self catering break with modern facilities and when the chef wants a night off, there’s an award winning pub within a 10-minute stroll. There is a patio to the rear with BBQ facilities and a seated area. Shop 5 miles, pub and restaurant in village.

Lovely cottage in quiet location
This is an ideal cottage if you want some peace and tranquility within a picturesque location. The living accommodation is on 3 levels so be aware there are 2 flights of stairs to get to all the amenities. The cottage kitchen was well stocked with all the utensils, etc you need and the living room and beds make for a very comfortable stay. Would definitely stay here again.
Stayed 7 nights in Mar 2024

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, lovely village.
A lovely cottage in a beautiful location, lovely village. We equipped. Comfortable beds. Would be even better if some logs, dishwasher tablets, washing liquid, bin bags etc. were provided, as it means complete packs of everything need to be purchased to use the equipment and keep things clean. Moan over, we had lovely week's stay, thank you. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Lovely cottage in great location.
Lovely cottage in great location. Score for cleanliness relates to following items: dirty oven, soiled oven glove & sizeable stain on cushions of one sofa. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Great place to stay for visiting the lakes.
Great place to stay for visiting the lakes. We were touring on a motorcycle and the parking was not really suitable due to access and gravel. However the Vicarage was just opposite and the Reverend let us leave the bike on his hard standing, a donation to St Marys parish church and everyones happy!! Great little Cottage.
Great little Cottage. Stayed here for 5 nights and it was perfect for a family of 4. The beds were extremely comfy, facilities were adequate for the length of the stay. The only downside was the lack of a freezer which was fine for 5 nights but would have become an issue if we had stayed longer. Also, the small window in the bedroom really needs a curtain or blind.
