About this property

Cosy Lodge with beautiful views across the valley

The Summerhouse is a beautifully appointed chalet nestled into the side of the Kennal Valley. Boasting a south facing private balcony, it enjoys fabulous far reaching views across the valley and beyond, perfect for an evening drink, a BBQ, or simply relaxing & taking it all in.

New for 2023, the Summerhouse now boasts a wood fired off grid hot tub for quiet peaceful relaxation. Simply fire up the log burner and in around 3 hours you will have a beautiful warm hot tub overlooking the wonderful Kennal valley.

Inside, the Summerhouse combines luxury & practicality with a large double room & ensuite, a spacious lounge & kitchen with cooking facilities. There is also a sofa bed, a tele, heating and Wi-Fi for less clement weather.

Please do check our reviews on Google or Facebook. Simply type in Blankednick boltholes and see what our previous guests thought about our little piece of Cornwall.

Location:

Ponsanooth is a charming Cornish village nestled in the Kennal Valley. It boasts a fine pub, a decent playground, and a well equipped village shop selling local produce, as well as basic essentials. Just a short drive away is the thriving town of Falmouth, made famous by the sailing regatta and it's multitude of brilliant bars and restaurants overlooking the harbour. Here you can go out fishing or on the pleasure boats, hang out in the bustling town, or just relax on the beautiful sandy beaches of Gyllyngvase or Maenporth. The more adrenaline fuelled North coast surfing beaches are within a twenty minute drive from Blankednick.

Things to do in the immediate area:

For a good walk, there is also the Kennal Valley nature reserve with the remnants of a bygone gunpowder factory with the Kennal river cascading through. The South West coastal path is a mere stones throw from Blankednick, with some breath taking coastal scenery and essential ice cream shops on route to help recharge tired legs.

Nearby is Stithians reservoir, ideal for watersports and nature walks and the great North Coast surfing beaches are around a twenty-five minute drive.

Oh and did we mention the Dynamite Valley Brewery at the bottom of the valley (less than five minute walk) boasting local brews and even a beer cafe for a sundowner...

Getting around:

Although idyllically quiet, Blankednick Lodge is within a stones throw of the A39 which connects Truro to Falmouth to the deep South of Cornwall. Therefore almost anything in the county is easy to access, from the county town of Truro (7 miles away) to the famous surf beaches of the North coast being around a 20 minute drive.

There is also a bus stop within 500 yards of Blankednick going both North to Truro and South to Falmouth if required.

Please ask Ben and Lou the best way to get to places, as we know the secrets of navigating Cornwall, even in peak times!

Blankednick Boltholes
We rented the summerhouse which was clean, welcoming and fairly well equipped. Self catering in such a small space was difficult but we took the view we wanted to experience food at the many restaurants nearby so not a major problem. The location was ideal for getting out and exploring parts of Cornwall we hadn’t seen before as well as being around an hour from the north coast. Ben and Lou were very welcoming and nothing was too much. We would certainly consider going back the next time we visit Cornwall and have no hesitation in recommending the Blankednick Boltholes as a very good place to stay.

The picture is of my boys and I walking the South Coast path from Sennan through to Land's End. We just love exploring Cornwall and all the beauty it has to offer. It's a magical place.

Having spent 20 years "up-country" we decided during the pandemic, that we life is too short and we should follow a dream we have had for many years. We have roots in Cornwall, so we sold everything we own and moved to Cornwall.

We have not looked back since we have returned. What we have forgone financially, we have more made up for in quality time and experience down here. The purchase of Blankednick Farm has now put the final piece in that jigsaw and we are now excited to be able to share this beautiful part of the World with our guests.

Why they chose this property

When someone tells you that the pictures don't justify the actual place, never a truer word has been said about Blankednick. It is a stunning location with truly magnificent views. It is accessible for life, but still quietly tucked away in the Kennal Valley.

We have worked hard to make the holiday lets practical, whilst still retaining their charm, so we really hope that you are as happy staying with us, as we are living here...
