Perfect for a group
Lovely stay and great place for a group break. We are all 50+. Twin bed duvets need to be larger as better for children. Downstairs bedroom wasn’t clean. But overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the local area. Thank you. Communication prior to our trip was great too.
Stayed 3 nights in Apr 2022

Excellent time in a lovely location.
The barn and cart shed are well equipped & comfortable. One issue was the lack of mirrors in the rooms, there is a mirror in the bathrooms over the sinks only. It was difficult to dry/style hair with no mirrors. All of the ladies in my party found this to be an issue. The lights in the cart shed constantly tripped when you turned them on, but as we located the fuse box in the wardrobe, we managed this daily. The freezer in the main barn kitchen was in dire need of defrosting and we could not open the drawers to store frozen food. Other than that we had an excellent time. These issues did not prevent us from having a lovely time and enjoying the beautiful location and the countryside. Paston church and barn walks were great and the walk through to Mundesley was very enjoyable, the beach and surrounding areas are lovely.

A stunning barn. However, there are some issues...
We'll start with the positives. The barn is absolutely stunning, location is great, just a few minutes drive to the nearest beach. There is oodles of room in the property for a big family or if staying with friends. I imagine in the summer, sitting in the garden or on the terrace having a BBQ would be absolutely delightful. That said, we were quite disappointed with our stay over New Year. Mainly due to arriving to the smell of sewage permeating the house, the smell was at it's worst upstairs in the master bedroom. It was so bad that on the first night we had to sleep with the balcony windows open. The bins were also overflowing from the previous guests, and with no collection due until after we were due to check out, there would have been no where for us to put our rubbish. We called Norfolk Hideaways and give them their due, they did send someone to investigate the smell and remove the rubbish. However, the comment of "the cleaner didn't smell anything and neither did the previous guests" rubbed us up the wrong way, why would we lie about the smell of sewage? Thankfully the man who came to investigate the smell corroborated what we were saying, and also said he thought the state of the toilet brushes left in the house were disgusting (they were covered in faeces and rusty) We went to cook dinner on the first night and got plates out of the cupboard only to discover they had been put away dirty, which was rather grim. So meant we had to put everything through the dishwasher before we dared eat or drink anything else. Our other issue was the size of the fridge, which for a large house is tiny, they do have a separate drinks fridge in the utility room, but even so could really do with a full size fridge in the kitchen. On the 2nd night my son got into bed and moved his pillow and found a huge clump of dark hair (we know not belonging to anyone in our party as we're all blonde or bald), I mentioned it to our friends staying in the cottage next door, and they said that they hadn't wanted to moan (as we'd paid for the stay) but their bed looked like the sheets hadn't been changed and had also been covered in hairs. On the whole we loved the house and cottage but standards of cleaning are far below where they should be. If they were to sort this out would highly recommend

Spacious, but cold upstairs
Hello, We stayed for a week in Old barn and cast shed as a group of 9 adults in December 2021. There was plenty of space, bathrooms and kitchen equipment for everyone. Beds were comfortable and generally cosy house, however upstairs was always significantly colder than downstairs, with no separate controller for upstairs temperature. Another issue was the state of kettles in both houses, where we had to buy descaler to clean them up before use. There is Internet connection issue from big to small house, so almost all the time there is no Internet in small house. We had to buy our own wine glasses as there wasn't enough for everyone at the property. Other then that, it was a lovely house in a quite and rural area close to beach, forest and about 7 minutes drive to town.
