About this property

An attractive brick and flint 17th Century style cart lodge with far stretching views of rolling Suf

An attractive brick and flint 17th Century style cart lodge with far stretching views of rolling Suffolk countryside. The Granary makes for a peaceful getaway with the excitement of Newmarket Racecourse not too far away. Sleeping up to three guests in two bedrooms, the property is ideal for a small family, friends or a couple who are looking for a truly rural retreat.

Situated within the grounds of Saint Francis Cottage, The Granary is split over two floors with a spacious open-plan living area on the ground floor and two bedrooms and bathroom on the first floor. The open-plan living area is flooded with light and the french doors open onto a small patio area overlooking the pond and established gardens which guests are welcome to explore. The two oven Aga is operational during the cooler months, whilst the underfloor heating will ensure your toes are toasty throughout the year. There is a cosy sitting area and the dining table can comfortably accommodate up to six guests - ideal if you have friends over for supper. Upstairs, the master bedroom with king-size bed has a vast, vaulted ceiling and benefits from its very own balcony which has idyllic views of the surrounding fields and countryside. A cup of coffee on the balcony first thing in the morning is a holiday must. The second bedroom is generously sized and has a 3' single bed. After a long day of exploring, the bathtub with jets is perfect for a relaxing soak. Outside there is parking for up to two cars.

The Granary is surrounded by fields and countryside, yet benefits from being less than 20 minutes' drive from both Newmarket and Bury St. Edmunds.

A wonderful cottage
The cottage was beautiful. We thought the pictures looked too good to be true but if anything the cottage was even better. The hosts were very helpful and left us some great treats. The cottage was located well for trips out to newmarket, Cambridge and Burty St Edmunds. Also good for local walks. The garden was beautiful and we were treated to a moorhen and her two chicks on the pond. Only negative was internet access. We had a little on the first evening and last day but nothing inbetween. Not a big issue .. good to learn to live without it.

A wonderful place to stay
We loved the Granary and our mid week break there. The house was of the highest quality inside, with an inspirational interior and lovely views from the Granary over the fields. The owner is extremely thoughtful and provided a lovely home made cake, flowers and provisions when we arrived. I would really recommend for a relaxing break in lovely surroundings.
