Secret Garden
Enjoyed our stay in bijou cabin situated in the host's secret garden but completely separate from the main house Close to beaches and amenities and all that West Wight has to offer. Ideal for a mini break away from the hub-bub with the bonus of being pet friendly.

A haven near the IOW's beautiful south coast
Everything was super simple leading up to our stay in terms of comms with the owner. At the bottom of the garden with its own access, the cabin itself is small, clean and cosy - a good shower, heating that works, all that one needs. It backs onto a field that is ideal for the dog in the early morning. And the location is a stone's throw from the downs and beaches on the island's rugged and spectacular southern coast. Will return for sure.

Enjoyable stay in freshwater
We had a good 3 nights staying here. Good location for getting out and visiting places on the island. Sarah was a good host. Didn't realise there was no TV but overcame this using an ipad. The broadband was more than strong enough to support streaming.

Enjoyed our stay at The Bay Cabin but would have liked a little more clothes hanging facilities. Sarah the host is lovely and made us very welcome. 5 minutes into village and 5 minutes to the bay and Tennyson Down.

About the host

Host profile image
Completely fell in love with the Isle of Wight, all its natural beauty - the stunning coastline, golden beaches and secluded bays, and miles of picturesque rural vistas every which way you look - and moved here 12 years ago, after growing up in London. The gentle pace of life and very high quality of life living here is very attractive - and there’s so much to do and see, I’m still exploring new areas! The community at Freshwater Bay is very friendly and everything is just on your doorstep.

Why they chose this property

The Bay Cabin was project originated and completed during the first pandemic. Since I’ve opened it’s door in July 2020, the Isle of Wight has been a very popular destination, more so than ever before. It’s been fantastic being a host, and an absolute delight to meet so many different guests, from so many different places.

What makes this property unique

The idea behind The Bay Cabin was to offer guests somewhere beautiful, serenely quiet and romantic to unwind - the outdoor area with it’s hammock, dining area and funky chairs and outdoor stove with access to a free wood store and an additional BBQ, allows guests just to happily relax on site. Just a few minutes walk is the stunning Freshwater Bay, the most glorious place to swim with expansive views out to sea and beyond to Tennyson Downs. Colwell, Totland and Compton Bays are a very short drive away. And all amenities you can think of are within very easy access - family run general store, big supermarket, garage, butcher, baker, fishmonger…a few minutes walk is the fantastic Piano Bar, open all day with the best food and drinks, coffee and cakes.
