Oak Tree House is an exceptional holiday home in the brilliant location of Tomatin in the Scottish Highlands. On the border of the Cairngorms National Park and only 20 minutes’ drive from Inverness, there aren’t many better bases for a Highland holiday. The house is in the heart of Tomatin village, only a short walk from the award-winning Strathdearn Community Centre & Café where you’ll be a regular visitor.
You’re tucked away in Tomatin, but still only a mile from the A9, which transports you into the Cairngorms National Park, north into Inverness and many other amazing places along the NC500 touring route (Isle of Skye, Applecross, Assynt, and the list goes on). The situation and opportunities for an amazing holiday can’t be overstated. You’re in the heart of the Highlands and can explore in a different direction every day to really see and get to know this awe-inspiring part of the world. The Cairngorms National Park on your doorstep is a real treat because it’s a spectacle with its ancient Caledonian pine forests and sub-alpine environments where wild reindeer roam. It’s also a place for all seasons, with hiking and biking in the summer making way for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
The house itself is large and sits within a sizeable and beautifully landscaped plot. Entering the front door there’s a large hallway with rooms off in all directions. To the right is the large living room with wood burner that spills into a garden room and separate dining room. The kitchen also has a wood burner, breakfast area and utility/boot room. There’s a double bedroom with en-suite wet room, another double bedroom and a family wet-room. On the first floor there are three further bedrooms, another double, a twin and the truly unique master suite which is a one of a kind, and a genius idea. The entrance to it is through a secret door in the bookshelf at the top of the stairs. And it’s not just any door. We won’t spoil the surprise - you’ll love it. The master suite is beautifully finished and has a chicaned, glass entrance to the en-suite bathroom.
The first glimpse of the garden and view is from the living room. The owner has created such an interesting garden with a burn and pond, as well as a broch and ha-ha. Beyond the garden is Strathdearn and the amazing Findhorn Viaduct crossing which takes centre stage, especially when the world-famous Caledonian Sleeper cruises across. It’s an incredibly dramatic vista and one that you’ll keep gazing at whenever you get the chance during your stay.
One or more beds can be linked to form double or twin beds (please advise the owner of your preference prior to arrival).
