About this property

Finest Retreats | Cader Cottage (Bwthyn y Llwyn Cottage)

Finest Retreats is pleased to bring you Cader Cottage, which is an ideal choice for groups of friends or families to enjoy a relaxing and cosy stay. Its characterful features and outdoor hut tub really help make this cottage stand out and with both the mountains and the town of Dolegallau on the doorstep, guests will not be short of things to do.

Arriving at the cottage, there is ample parking both at the front and at the rear for several cars. The cottage itself is set over three floors and sleeps up to eight guests. The living room and kitchen can be found on the ground floor. On the first-floor can be found two of the bedrooms (one superking, one twin) and a bathroom. Further up the stairs, on the second floor is the master bedroom with en-suite shower room and a second twin room. Both of the superking doubles are zip-link beds which can be split to form twin beds, thus providing the opportunity to sleep eight individual guests in single beds. (Please note the second-floor twin room does not have a door and has a restricted head height).

One of the alcoves of the property has been turned into a small games room with a table football table and darts board - ideal for keeping kids (and adults alike!) entertained.

Dolgellau is a pretty, dark-stoned market town and overlooked by Cader Idris, the legendary ‘Chair of Idris’, which is on the approach to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary. Cader Cottage therefore provides a handy base for exploring all of Snowdonia Mountains and Coast – the Mawddach Trail for example runs along the waterside for 9 miles to Barmouth. Cycling and hiking are very popular locally – Dolgellau is a specially chosen ‘Cycle Breaks’ centre with a fine range of road and off-road routes. The Coed y Brenin Forest Park is nearby, with mountain biking trails for all abilities plus a host of other outdoor attractions and facilities.

Please note that there are building works close-by the property at the Manor House which are scheduled to continue until early 2023.

10/10 Excellent

Beautiful Cosy Cader cottage for a family 70th birthday celebration.
What a gorgeous old cottage . Lovely and welcoming, warm, cosy with gorgeous comfortable beds and bedding. We loved the old thick walls and the window seat in the lounge. Perfect place to chill with a book. The shower was hot and powerful and the hot tub was amazing. Convenient location and useful to have a supermarket so close by and lovely to have plenty of parking. There were a few broken items when we arrived - the curtain rail in the kitchen and the football games table. The cleaners said there’s had been reported more than once. There weren’t enough mugs or cutlery for all 8 guests. We managed with spoons instead of forks. and we could not find any egg cups. We found a huge bag of dirty linen in the cupboard under the stairs. A welcome pack would be nice - Just some basics like tea, coffee and sugar. We were a bit disappointed that we couldn’t use the fire in the longe. That would have made our stay extra special. Also, we would have loved to know a bit about the history of the cottage. Maybe some history in the information pack. None of this spoiled out little holiday - we had an amazing time - thank you.

Lovely short break
Really lovely character cottage in a great location. We were a little short on cutlery, crockery, glasses and other kitchen bits and bobs, and could also have done with some more clothes storage. Bathrooms could probably do with a refresh soon.
