About this property

Historic Tip of the Hill, ca 1762, just outside of Purcellville

Location, location, location: in the heart of Loudoun County's wedding and wine country.

Relax and unwind in this beautiful historic home that is located just outside of the town of Purcellville. Western Loudoun is bustling with things to do with its many wineries, breweries and restaurants. This is the perfect home to stay in if you are hosting a wedding or just a guest at one of Western Loudoun's incredible wedding venues. Rehearsal dinners or next day brunches would be available for an extra event fee. Outdoor activities are just across the street with Franklin Park and its walking trails, pool and frisbee golf course. Hiking on the Appalachian trail, tubing on the Shenandoah River or sightseeing in nearby Harper's Ferry are just a few of the activities that are at your doorstep.

Tip of the Hill is an oasis to be enjoyed and lived in. The original part of the home was built in 1762 and you can feel the history around you. One of the great features of the house is enjoying the outdoor patio which was built around the original summer kitchen, where meals were cooked over the fire in the summer months. The stonework is so incredible that you can't help but stare at it and appreciate the art and beauty.

Tip of the Hill is located on 10 very private acres. Even though the home is over 250 years old, it lives like a modern home with central air, updated baths with marble tile and a gourmet kitchen. There is Xfinity wifi, a flat screen TV, DVD's, puzzles and board games. You will find 1 queen size bed and 2 full size beds with luxurious linens. If cooking at home is what you are after, everything that you need is there to cook a gourmet meal. No need to stress about cooking because some of Loudoun's best destination restaurants are an easy drive away. The patio also features an outdoor gas grill. Don't let the one full bath scare you off because everyone will be fighting over the outdoor shower. This Zen like oasis has a huge rain head shower with hot and cold water. If you have pet allergies this might not be the house for you. There is a golden retriever that lives in the house when it is not rented. Bedrooms are located on the second level and stairs are not for the mobility impaired.

Our group throughly enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property. From the outside seating area to the wonderful porch to the clean and adorable inside this property was wonderful! We hope to be able to stay here again in the future! The host was extremely responsive and answered questions as well as left lots of recommendations for wineries in the area.

Bucolic stay, easy access to Leesburg, VA
Our daughter's wedding was held at a beautiful venue in Leesburg. We were desiring a wonderful spot for us to stay before and after the wedding, including the "morning after" brunch. This home was warm, comfortable and inviting. Outdoor fireplace lends itself to great family gatherings. Most likely we will plan to stay here again whenever in the area.

Beautiful landscaping!
This house was absolutely gorgeous on the inside, but the grounds were next level! The outdoor amenities were amazing, we spent most of our time by the fireplace. The landscaping was meticulously cared for and we visited at the right time to see the new blooms. Laure was very responsive. 5 stars!

I grew up in Purcellville and truly love living in Western Loudoun. It is so beautiful with lots and lots to explore. Whether you like outdoor activities, searching for that one of kind antique, exploring wineries and breweries, discovering some of Loudoun's destination restaurants or just sitting around reading a book, there is pretty much something for everyone.

Why they chose this property

I remember driving by this house when I was younger and I always loved it. When it went on the market over 20 years ago I was thrilled that we were able to purchase it. The lady that we bought it from had lived here for over 50 years so you can see that this is a property that does not change hands very often. When I tell people where I live they have the same reaction that I had years ago. They tell me that this is one of their favorite properties and they love driving by and seeing it.

What makes this property unique

I have always loved older homes. It is just really hard to recreate the warmth and character that you get when you walk in to a 200+ year old home. One of my favorites views is looking out over the sink onto the patio and the field beyond that. I love the old stone wall and in early morning the sun shines on the mist in the field. It is a special place and everyone loves to visit. When we added the patio that gave us the ability to host events on a much larger scale. There have been some amazing dinner parties on that patio and I am happy that my guests get the chance to enjoy it.
