About this property

Tathra Beach Cottage - a cottage that sleeps 5 guests in 3 bedrooms

Sun-drenched beaches overlooking an aquamarine bay, a cobbled fisherman's quarter and an iconic art gallery mere steps from the sand. This is of course, St Ives – one of Cornwall's most beautiful (and popular) seaside towns and a ‘must' for your most-wanted holiday destinations wish list.

Tucked into Barnoon Hill, an area of St Ives well-known for its most famous resident Barbara Hepworth, Tathra Beach Cottage lies quite literally on the doorstep of the artist's studio and Sculpture Garden. Grade II listed and gorgeous, the house flaunts a tastefully refurbished interior with chic furnishings and modern features – all designed to create a truly comfortable space for your stay in St Ives. Three beautiful bedrooms make up the homes two upper floors, with a large living room and spacious modern kitchen to be found on the ground and lower ground.

Wonderfully positioned in the heart of St Ives and within easy reach of all that the town has to offer, you're just a hundred yards from bustling Fore Street, its shops, restaurants, cafes and galleries, and just a minute's walk from the harbour and beach.

Liked: Check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
Good location
Positives: Good location, very central to shops, harbour. Kitchen well equipped. Bathrooms had good showers, quite powerful and clean. Negatives: The bathrooms needed toilet roll holders and a shelf in shower cubicle for putting shampoo etc on. A lot of bending down to pick up bottles which middle age people may find annoying . The windows needed cleaning, couldn’t see out very well and it’s not just seagull business on them. There were a lot of damp patches in the house and the 1st floor bedroom bed head wall had what looked like mould patches on them which is very off putting. Every window had mould growing on the frames. Considering the age of the house perfection isn’t expected but if these issues were dealt with it would make the stay more pleasant. Ok for adults but I wouldn’t say it is a child friendly accomadation due to 3 flights of narrow stairs which do not have carpet on, the stairs are painted which can be slippery. Stair gates are provided though so maybe it’s personal choice. In conclusion I would give 7/10 but higher if the issues were resolved.

10/10 Excellent

Stunning!
We stayed at Tathra Beach Cottage for 3 nights for our son's wedding. It is a stunning cottage that couldn't get any closer to the heart of St. Ives. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay or anything more to be provided to make our stay comfortable. The stairs aren't for the faint-hearted, but in our opinion, added to the charm and character of the property. The beds and linen provided were of a high quality. My only very minor criticism would be the cleanliness of the items in the kitchen. They are reliant on the last users to clean them and we found we needed to wash everything before we used it. No great hassle and certainly won't put us off from staying here again.
