Badly managed property in a great location
In spite of its great location, this apartment had a lot of problems. When we arrived, the first thing that hit us was a profound, stale smell of cigarettes (this in spite of the fact that the apartment was advertised as being in a smoke-free building). The apartment clearly hadn't been properly cleaned or prepared; the bed was unmade, and the person who checked us in hastily made it (badly--I had to remake it) while we waited. Instead of there being two sofa beds in addition to the queen bed as advertised, there was only one, and it was not only in very poor shape, but was also covered in dog hair (we filled a whole vacuum cleaner container with it). The kitchen sink also clearly hadn't been cleaned. To make matters worse, the hot water stopped working within hours of our arrival. The listing also mentioned a spa tub, but if there was one, we never found it! We tried to communicate with the host via the Vrbo messenger, but her caretaker insisted on writing to us "off the record" on Whatsapp (which Vrbo explicitly advises against). All in all, this was the worst vacation rental experience I have ever had with Vrbo or similar websites.
