Gorgeous Retreat
We could not have asked for anything more; this place was amazing for our family. Serene, private, wilderness, soothing, are but a few terms that come to mind. A gem for sure, thanks to the owner and host for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Great stay in Maine!
Wow, what a fantastic property. We all loved everything about the stay - private house on very private lake and great amenities to spend time outdoors on the property. We loved exploring Bar Harbor and Acadia, but the best part of our trip was spending time on property. A true gem. We all can't wait to return.

Great Maine Cabin Stay
Staying at Mill Stream Pond was the perfect vacation!! We had an extended family vacation and there was room for everyone to fit comfortably. The only thing I would recommend is to bring fans for the upstairs loft which we did because it can get very hot up there. The downstairs however was comfortable the entire time. The property was perfect as was the scenery and lake we enjoyed many days out there swimming boating and fishing! Seeing Bald Eagles fly over while on the water was an experience of a life time! Location is also perfect close to town yet private and easily accessible to visit both Bangor and Bar Harbor. We never wanted to leave!

Amazingly beautiful and peaceful lakefront property
We loved being on a private peninsula in a large log cabin styled home. The home was stocked with kitchen, laundry and other life necessities. The home is very comfortable, well laid out and spacious. Yet, the best part was the view of the lake and woods from the screened in porch either during the day or at sunset. During our stay, we camped outside, ate around the campfire, went kayaking, jumped off the offshore dock and spotted bald eagles. What an amazing property with all its surrounding beauty and tranquility.

Extended family enjoyed June stay
Our family of 6 adults (grandparents and adult children) and 4 kids (ages 6 down to 1) had a wonderful time at the Robinsons’ camp. The property was beautiful and we enjoyed some gorgeous sunsets and nice walks. The enclosed deck was wonderful and the huge table fit the 10 of us plus our nearby family of 5 with plenty of room to spare. The deck could use some more comfortable chairs for sitting around - there is one that fits the bill. We used the canoes/kayaks and life vests with no problems and the little kids played on the rocky beach and shallow entrance to the pond. The daytime highs ranged from 90 down to 60. The people sleeping upstairs were pretty hot at night on the warmer days and there weren’t windows in each of the upstairs “rooms” so my in-laws bought a few fans, which I hope help others. We had two kids in pack n plays (which we brought) so I’ll comment on space for them - one toddler slept in the master bath and we had to tape black garbage bags to the window to keep light out. The other toddler slept in the double bed room alone. There was just enough space for his PnP there and there is a shade on the window. The queen bed room is big enough just for the bed really, no PnP. There are no closets large enough for a PnP. The master bedroom is huge and can fit an entire family unit. Bring eye masks and ear plugs - there were no curtains/shades on many windows and the sunrise was 4:45 AM (and some of us were coming from a different time zone to boot). And sleeping with the windows open was noisy - a delightful nature-y noisy. We discovered some of the master window screens must have some holes in them as we left the lights on and came back to hundreds of (harmless, small - not mosquitoes) bugs so keep the lights off. Internet worked ok (we did not try to stream anything) and there was some cell reception. Dave was really friendly and it was wonderful seeing some of their family memories/mementos in the house and basement. We would definitely come back here.

Magical
This gorgeous, secluded property is located next to a beautiful lake dotted with large boulders and surrounded by trees. Visitors are greeted by the sound of loons calling across the lake and the wind whispering in the tree tops. An amazing screened in porch looks out to the water affording guests a perfect view while dining outdoors. The large kitchen provided everything we needed to prepare meals for our family. Internet is available; but we didn’t use it much because this property was so much more compelling than anything the internet has to offer. We found the house to be within a reasonable drive to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. The owner and caretaker are both friendly and responsive. We will never forget our stay here.

Perfect and picturesque family getaway
If you've ever been to a Maine cabin, then this place will feel exactly like home. If you've never experienced a Maine cabin, this is an ideal place to start. The location can't be beat - total privacy, serenity, westerly views for magnificent sunsets, this place has it all. Not to mention you can sleep 15-18 people comfortably! We didn't even use a couple of the bedrooms for our group of 12. You can tell the owners have created so many memories here with their families and it's so wonderful that they were gracious enough to share this slice of heaven with others. The property is amazing; trails, swimming dock, kayak/canoe cove, fire pit, the property has it all. The interior was wonderful with the largest screened in porch I've ever seen that looks out onto the lake - perfect place for morning coffee, read a book, and have dinner (there is a table that can extend to seat everyone comfortably!). The kitchen is fully stocked, we never had a need for anything. The check-in process was extremely easy and the welcome packet has all the local tips you would need. I couldn't recommend this place enough if you are looking for the perfect Maine getaway. It's also all within 30-45 min from Acadia National Park! Such an amazing place, we hope to be back someday.

Amazing peaceful paradise
Where to even begin to describe this magical place! From the moment we arrived, the serenity and beauty overwhelmed us. The Robinsons were wonderful hosts. Every anticipated need was met. Their home is inviting and beautiful. The views are breathtaking. Almost every night we kayaked out on the lake to watch the sunset - the lake is so quiet and peaceful. The floating dock was a wonderful treat for us for sunbathing and for the kids (and puppies!) to enjoying swimming to. The one day it rained we had so many choices - from the number of board games to the billiard table we had wonderful family time. Loved the fact that we could keep the windows open and enjoy the gentle breezes. The sound of the looms put us to sleep each night. We even saw the friendly bald eagle the first day we were there! I could go on and on, but you need to discover the rest of the gems of this wonderful retreat yourself. Thank you to the Robinsons for blessing us with time in your paradise.

Family Vacation
We spent an amazing week at this property. The house was very clean and large enough to accommodate our large family. We spent the week swimming, kayaking, campfires at night and just relaxing and enjoying family time. Owner and manager were pleasant to deal with. We are looking forward to spending next years family vacation at this beautiful place.

Absolutely Perfect
Our family has stayed in many vacation rentals over the past 6 years and this home is the absolute best. We explored many parts of Maine from the very northwest corner, southwest border, many parts of the northeast border, the 95 corridor, and many places in-between. This was the most beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable part of Maine. Our family made many memories fishing, kayaking, hiking, playing board games, wildlife watching, and watching the gorgeous sunsets. If you are reading this review and this home is available during your vacation time, there is no need to look at anymore VRBO homes. This is the best place Maine has to offer. It is scenic, has wildlife, water, and beautiful sunsets. There will not be any regrets while renting this home. The kitchen has everything, including a lobster pot. There is a laundry room, plenty of sleeping, and many activities. We originally rented this home for 6 nights but called and asked if we could stay another evening. It was about 50 minutes to Bangor and Acadia. The drive in to town, where you can get groceries and fresh lobster, was about 15 minutes. There was a Walmart and many shops including the LLBean outlet. When we visit Maine again in the future, this will be where we go. Thank you for sharing this absolutely perfect spot for making family memories!

Perfect lake house
Wonderful house, perfect for an extended family. My whole family (parents, sisters and all our kids) were able to come and enjoy this very special spot together, with plenty of room and beds for us all. Pretty rare to find a house that can a accommodate us all. If you are looking for privacy and solitude in the woods, this is the place for you. We saw loons, eagles, and caught fish, and were all sad when it came time to pack up. While I would love to give it a 1 star review to scare people away and keep it all to ourselves, it would be a gross lie. Dave communicated extremely well with us during the booking process, sent detailed information about the area, and Amy was available in case we needed anything (which we did not!) We 100% are already looking at our calendars for next summer to figure out when we can come again!

It doesn’t get more beautiful, private, wild, dog-friendly, than Mill Stream Pond. Beautiful sunsets, plenty of fish in the lake, daily visits of bald eagle family, wild blueberries, close to hiking trails, everything a Main lover would desire. So peaceful and yet close to great activities
We had a great time relaxing with family and exploring Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor area while staying in this log home on it's own peninsula back a nearly 1 mile private drive. There are no road noises and there are many things to do without even leaving the property. We enjoyed kayaking, playing ping pong, walking through the woods, sitting by a camp fire, putting a puzzle together and eating meals on the large screened-in porch, reading books, and playing board games. All of these things are readily available at the cabin. Our girls enjoyed having rooms in the upstairs of the cabin with a loft overlooking the living room and the large stone fireplace. As for conveniences, there are two refrigerators, dishwasher, three bathrooms, washer & dryer, coffee maker, propane grill, and an assortment of dishes and cooking utensils sufficient to prepare for a small army. There are three tables including a really large one on the porch. There are three bedrooms downstairs and the upstairs is divided into private areas with walls and curtains with some areas able to accommodate up to six while others can accommodate two or three. Linens and towels for use inside were provided and they ask that you bring your own towels for outside use, which we did. The owner was great to work with and communicated well. The local property manager was prepared for our arrival and check-in/check-out could not have been easier. The beauty of the location of the property on a 915 acre "pond"--more like a lake where I'm from, gave us a whole series of beautiful sunsets. The sunrises may have been beautiful too, but it was such a great place to relax and sleep in, I'm afraid we missed them. Finally, the property is located about 35 minutes from Mount Desert Island, where some of us hiked and all of us enjoyed the scenery. It has a lot of scenic lakes, and as spectacular as they were, we could look at them and say "we can see something just as good outside our front door." That helped make this the perfect place for our group who had varying interests. There was something for everyone. There's so much to say, and I know I've just provided little bits and pieces of all the things we enjoyed . If you want to get away for relaxation but still enjoy some of the best hiking, kayaking, and family time available while working with a great property owner, then I highly recommend this one.

Family time in the Maine wilderness
This secluded Maine camp has everything you could possible need for that rustic family camp experience with the added bonus of hot showers and wifi. The camp is west facing on a large, wooded, private peninsula for those amazing firelight sunsets over a large acreage Maine pond. Kids and us had a great time fishing, swimming and kayaking around the pond for over a week, and when it came time for sightseeing in Bar Harbor, pretty much had to be pried away from camp. Everyone loved the family-centric cabin accommodations and the hosts were outstanding for the duration. Be sure to look out for the bald eagle lurking in the tree tops!

Why they chose this property

Family house built by our parents for their entire family (sons, wives and grandchildren) to summer together. Our parents have since passed away and our children are at the age that makes extended stays difficult. Therefore, we have reluctantly decided to make this gem available to other families who will fall in love with it as their own family retreat.
