Disappointing
The initial booking was a torturous affair on “Vrbo. The most objectional thing is I was required to give my passport details to “Superhog”, (required by the owners). I am very uncomfortable about that as for all I know, it has been cloned and is now in circulation somewhere in the world. At first, we were unable to locate the correct key safe as video sent to us demonstrated the key being retrieved from a different model. We finally retrieved the keys. As it was raining, we were rather wet. First appearance of the flat it was a very light airy and. However, after a few minutes wet as we were and hoping to dry and get warm, we were disappointed. We were unlucky to have booked a period when the weather was exceptionally cold for the time of year, the apartment was cold. There are storage radiators, so a quick look at the controls told us it should be warm. We switched the booster part of the heater on in the kitchen/lounge/diner, and eventually thawed out. The bedroom heater had no such boost so we put plenty of clothes on to sleep. We turned the heating controls up. In the morning, the heaters were hardly lukewarm so we relied on the booster in the lounge again. The utensils and cutlery were basic like that which you might find in a student let. The fridge had food on the shelves and the microwave needed cleaning. The plate heating drawer was unusable, it was caked in grease. Gravy was dried onto the handle of one of the saucepans and the grill tray was well greased. We were in Southampton for my daughter’s wedding. We invited them to dinner after the service. We borrowed some cutlery and bought dishes to serve dessert. No teapot, jug, serving dishes, just three wine glasses and two water glasses? We had only booked as a couple, so not best placed to complain. The bathroom was adequate but corners ingrained dirt and the silica sealing was a bit tired and discoloured. The shower is head liable to detach itself from the fitting and crash into the bath. The shower is serviceable and so long as you can climb in and out of a slippery bath that has no hand holds. There is a £25 cleaning charge applied to the booking fee! The apartment needs proper populating with more homely and functional extras, e.g., a side table. Given the not inconsiderable cost of the rental, the inadequacy outlined above could easily by put right at little cost. We booked an 11.am departure but were told on three occasions we were to check out at 10 am. We checked out at 11.am
