Welcome to Pedazo de Cielo. Our Name means 'A Slice of Heaven' which says it all. Located 1400 ft above sea level we offer you the most incredible views of the Jungle and Pacific Ocean.

Your hosts, David and Michelle LIVE ONSITE. They advocate the Pura Vida lifestyle and have designed their property and home to best showcase the breathtaking views and jungle setting through the creation of a number of outdoor living spaces for your enjoyment and relaxation.
 
Self- contained, our private access guesthouse offers 1 QUEEN and 1 KING bedroom, both with ensuite shower/toilet. In addition there are 2 SINGLE pull out comfortable chair beds that are suitable for average sized children under 12years old. Both air conditioned bedrooms have sea views and walkout double French doors to the Sun Terrace seating area which in turn provides direct access to the  Pool Deck offering BBQ Rancho with alfresco dining, Infinity Pool with Swim-up Bar and View Point all of which have breathtaking birds-eye panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Jaco Town and expanse of mountainous jungle.
For your convenience there is a fully equipped Kitchen, Dining Room and use of the Laundry.
 
This property with it’s breathtaking views, home comforts, and easy accessibility by car to our local shops, restaurants, attractions, activities  and beaches is everything you could hope for and more. It will provide you with a unique Costa Rican vacation experience and an opportunity to truly relax and recoup from life’s stresses and strains.
 
Whether you are in to photography, bird watching, star gazing, surfing, hiking, biking, fishing, sailing, scuba diving or just simply relaxing, you have arrived. We look forward to welcoming you to our Slice of Heaven.
 
The rural location of this outstanding property allows an abundance of wildlife to enjoy the grounds and all it has to offer. Capuchin Monkeys, Coati and Iguanas are daily visitors, taking advantage of the Banana, Mango, Avocado, Cashew and Date Palm trees to supplement their veracious appetites. In addition, regular visitors of the feathered type include Toucan, Scarlet Macaw, Green Parrot and a number of Birds of Prey. Photo opportunities are in abundance so bring a good camera with you!

LOCATION
Nestled high on Cerro Fresco Mountain our high elevation of 1400ft offers bird-eye panoramic views of the lush tropical rainforest, endless sandy beaches and perfect surfing waves. The vibrant town of Jaco, just 15 minutes drive away offers an abundant choice of nightlife and local/international restaurants and some of the best surfing waves. Hermosa is our most local beach and is accessible within a 12 minute drive.

Paradise on earth
This was an absolutely magical visit. The views were spectacular, accommodations top-rate, and David and Michelle are such wonderful, lovely, and helpful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, the surrounding wildlife and daily morning walks on the mountain. David and Michelle made us feel right at home. The house is truly situated on a slice of heaven, and I will longingly recall our stay as I sit back to work at my computer at home. It was hard to leave. Michelle and David - thank you so much. We really enjoyed our little visits with you - you guys are the best!!

Heaven on Earth
There is not enough room to capture all the amazingness of the property, the people, homeowners and all the local folks who were part of our vacation. Michelle is super responsive and attentive, the views, the sounds, the serenity - it's difficult to put into words. We are already planning our return vacation. Most reviews do mention the trek up the mountain is a trek lol - it's an adventure, but good to just understand it isn't as easy as popping to the grocery store at home. We will book a personal chef next time and pre-arrange the nights we want transportation into town. Thank you to David and Michelle for opening up your paradise to allow others to experience the beauty and oasis in Jaco. Jorge and Carlito whom were referred for transportation and excursions are now friends :) Cannot say enough about the relationships and memories made!

A Slice of Paradise
What a beautiful and relaxing place to stay! And David & Michelle are wonderful. They were helpful in every way. What a privilege it was to get to know them and for them to share their amazing property with us. We so enjoyed the unbeatable views while relaxing in the infinity pool, being entertained by the monkeys, watching the scarlet macaws and toucans fly in & out, the massages that Michelle lined up for us and just the overall peacefulness we felt while being there.

Heaven above Jaco
David and Michelle’s home high on the mountain - overlooking the ocean and mountains - is so breath taking - pictures hardly capture its beauty and tranquility. Both are gracious hosts and you feel as though you are a part of their family from the first hug hello. The house is so beautiful and is graciously appointed with any and everything you need. The pool and outside living area is an oasis - not giving you much reason to leave. But, there are great beaches and tasty food close by so ventures off the mountain are equally rewarding. We also did a local waterfall hike which we loved. Bottom line - this is a rental experience not to be missed. You will fall in love with the home, the owners and the experience. We will be coming back!

David and Michelle are the most gracious hosts and nicest most accomodating humans you will ever find! The pool and the view from the pool make this my favorite spot on planet earth!

We are a friendly, fun loving, deeply committed couple who embrace the Costa Rican 'Pura Vida' way of life and all it has to offer. David is Texan born and Michelle is 2nd generation Zimbabwean who has called a number of countries home between Africa and Costa Rica.
Our home and its stunning location is unique and we get such pleasure sharing the beauty and tranquility with visitors, friends and family. Our onsite fur-family includes our cat, Shadow and our small dog, Zuri. Both are friendly but will keep their distance unless encouraged to interact by you. We have an abundance of wildlife visiting on a regular basis, although you will miss the majority of these special moments if you opt to get up late. Sunrise with a cup of coffee is perfection and your bed will be waiting for you after if you feel so inclined. Photo ops will be plentiful, bring your good camera.

Although we reside on the top level of the house, we respect your tranquility and privacy. There are cameras at the front of house however the guest areas are camera free. We like to build a rapport with our guests in the run up to arrival to be sure that we are a good match and to assist with planning your perfect stay. We are available throughout your stay, to assist you in anyway we can. We have a number of reliable visiting services and professionals including realtors for those seeking to move here in the future. However we do ask that you followup in person on any bookings or appointments made through our contacts to avoid possible disappointment.

Why they chose this property

Simply because our name Pedazo de Cielo says it all! This really is a Slice of Heaven and the minute you drive through the gates you will feel the welcome that the property and it's caretakers exude.

From the front of house you can enjoy the views of Jaco town and from the back unhindered views of the pacific coast. Both sides are beautiful at any time day or night, but at sunset (front) and sunrise (back) it showcases its full beauty - check out the photo section to stir your senses and ignite your soul.

At an elevation of 1400ft we are far enough above it all to provide a sense of remote wilderness, but we are close enough to the town of Jaco and beachfront restaurants of Playa Hermosa to be convenient. Town is a 20 minute commute and some of the best beaches in the area are a 15 minute drive away. Our dirt mountain pass is in good condition and adds a sense of awe and adventure to your final leg of the journey. 4WD is not a necessity during the dry[er] months; however an SUV would be preferable for ground clearance. AWD for the wettest season may be preferable.
DON'T BE PUT OFF BY THE TERM RAINY SEASON! - June - mid November provide cooler weather - most days being sunny and dry with the early evenings and nights serving up a delectable mix of awe-inspiring thunder and lighting storms and torrential rains. You have to experience this season to understand and appreciate the true beauty of this location. It is this time of year that you realize just how many hues of green there are in an equatorial jungle setting. When you are living above the clouds and birds it adds a certain awe to existence.
Dry season starts in December and ends in May with the first quarter of the year providing hot, dry weather and warm evenings. NB: If you are vetting the area to possibly live here, we strongly recommend experiencing both seasons before making the leap.
