About this property

The Owl's Perch-backwoods glamping cabin over amazing creek

Nestled in the backwoods (half hour from town), private deck overlooking boulder filled trout stream, you can sleep amongst the trees in our 200 sq ft one room glamping cabin. Attached to our back deck (we live here). Tiny kitchenette is furnished to make simple meals or use our gas grill. Come escape and unplug at our Appalachian "Eden". The view doesn't get any better than this! Be aware venomous snakes and wild animals are indigenous to our area. 2 miles from paved road, all vehicles need 5" clearance due to 1.2 mile of uneven gravel/dirt and potholes. No cell or WiFi (landline in cabin). No charging EV batteries. NOT suitable for motorcycles. Use ONLY our directions!

My Favorite Place!
This is my 3rd year stay. The beauty and sound of nature here give me peace. Alice is the very best host of any place I’ve ever stayed. I will definitely be back next year for my little piece of tranquility!

2 Days of Tranquility
We spent two days at the Perched Owl and sank into the coziness of the one room suite and found some peace sitting on the private deck listening and observing the river from above. It was a very grounding experience as there isn’t WiFi available and zero service in the area which helped eliminate any distractions. Alice was a great host, very friendly and welcoming and we can’t wait to spend a few more days after spring.

About the host

Hosted by Alice Lumbard

Host profile image
We're Doug and Alice, originally from Illinois. We missed our creek property and slower lifestyle so we moved into our tiny vacation home.

Why they chose this property

We built this separate structure to host our family and friends. We think our boulder filled wild brook trout stream is something special so we decided to share it with guests who want to unplug, enjoy adventure (just getting here!), and nature.

Want to stay longer? We also rent out “The Junction" (#1493247) - a 400 square foot tiny house with full kitchen that sleeps 2, overlooking the same creek downstream.

What makes this property unique

You just can't beat our creek! The rushing water, the solitude of the forest. The highest compliment is when guests say they don't want to leave! We welcome you to come experience small living and see why less is more!
