About this property

Derby Destination (20 Minutes to Churchill Downs): Lovely House and Garden

Welcome to "Le Jardin de la Maison!" We purchased this home last year after a long search. We had enjoyed hosting through VRBO for many years. So, finding a new property which would serve guests well was a priority. Score! This house is a dream for entertaining both inside and outside.
Begin with a charming front facade of Belgium cobblestones, bay windows with copper roofs, and traditional Louisville brick. Ample parking is available both adjacent to the three-car garage and on the cul-de-sac.
Enter the front door with leaded glass transom into the hardwood foyer. Ahead you will see the over-sized great room with brick fireplace, flanked by glass doors to the rear yard. Ten guests can gather comfortably around the wood burning fireplace (wood provided.) The soaring ceiling can be viewed from the second story bridge above.
The dining room features a table seating ten as well as a sideboard for serving. Antiques, original art, and Persian rugs abound throughout.
The kitchen has lots of prep space on granite counters with good lighting. In addition to the gas cook-top, you will enjoy the Advantium oven, wall oven, and warming drawer. Here, also, you will find a coffee bar (pot and single serve) for your convenience. The stainless refrigerator has through-door ice and water. An abundance of dishes, glassware, and serving bowls are at your fingertips. An overflow refrigerator sits just inside the garage, off the breakfast room.
The custom glass and steel breakfast table compliments the six mid-century modern steel and bentwood chairs. Just past the breakfast room enter the sunroom which soft-seats four plus a puzzle table with two pull-up chairs. The sunroom with skylights is surrounded on three sides by the garden. A flagstone patio, natural gas grill, bubble fountain, lawn with colorful border gardens, rose covered gazebo, and Koi pond with two waterfalls have been featured on garden tours. Continuously blooming (March through October), the garden was designed by the previous owner, a master gardener.
Back inside, you can visit the first floor master suite. A large bedroom (queen bed) with bay window and 54-inch TV lead to double closets and grand master bath with skylight. Tasteful wallpaper graces both master bath and powder room, which features a hand-painted lavatory bowl from Italy.
Ascend the stairs on more Persian rugs to three bedrooms (two king beds and one queen) plus a spacious Jack-and-Jill bath. Lovely bed and bath linens are reserved for guests.
Downstairs on a luxurious mossy green carpet, you will find a cozy man cave with a gas fireplace, reading chairs, leather sofa, poker table, and three walls of the homeowner's eclectic collections. Adjacent is the theater room with a 120-inch projection screen and a kitchenette with a wine cooler. Four leather recliners let you relax in comfort. A full bath completes the finished portion of the lower level. We are happy to set up additional twin beds as needed. (There is a stair out through the garage.)
This house is only a mile from the Watterson expressway near I-71. There is easy access to all parts of the city. Shopping center nearby has gas, grocery, drug stores, restaurants, banks, fast food and specialty shops.
It is our pleasure to host out of town guests because we love to share our Louisville culture! We will give you as much input as you desire. We stay with family nearby so we are available if you need anything.
