About this property

Waterfront, Private Beach, Mid Century Style

Little Bay House sits on a sandy cove of Little Bay, just off Fleets Bay on Virginia's Chesapeake Bay. The wide water is perfect for kayaking, paddle boarding and sailing small crafts. The long private beach is shaded by tall pines and our shore has a soft sand bottom that is swimmable for even the very young.

When our family discovered Virginia’s Northern Neck we found a place with a seaside vibe, natural wooded beauty and small town charm. White Stone, Irvington and Kilmarnock are all within minutes of Little Bay House and all have unique central shopping streets with local merchants; bakeries and delis, burgers and donuts, boutiques and coffee shops.

THE HOME

4 bedrooms, 2 full baths, one half bath and one outdoor shower, sleeps 12
Typically our 2,300 square foot home is set up to accommodate three families vacationing together. Since this year is anything but typical, I'll leave it at accommodates 12 with heaps of sleeping and living spaces for all. One side sleeps the kids and the other the adults – that’s how we do it. You do what works for you.

Three sets of twin bunks along with a half bath and outdoor shower accommodate the kiddos – or kiddos who are now adult sized! Can we say heavy duty bunks? Three additional bedrooms accommodate couples with queen beds fitted with Leesa mattresses and pillows (two share a full bath and one has its own). And a board game room with a deep queen Couchbed (yep, Couchbed, Google it) can be closed off. Each room has a white noise machine and blackout curtains.

Common spaces include the board game room, a screen porch that can be closed up and conditioned with the home’s central heating and air, dining room with a large farm table and cozy gas log fireplace, spacious den for watching tv – we provide you high speed internet, a Netflix account (you may sign into any of your streaming accounts through the TV) and Apple HomePod (this requires your own Apple account or you can stream audio with Bluetooth). The deck has lounging chairs and a picnic table. A charcoal grill sits just off the deck.

THE OUTDOORS

We have a long private beach that is our favorite place to be outside when we're here. Among tall pines just off the beach hang 3 double hammocks. A few Adirondack chairs, a picnic table and a swing are scattered among the trees. A large lawn on both the water side and woods side are great for games. And a deck with 4 more lounge chairs and a picnic table are just off the open porch, so you can catch the views from the sun or shade. A fire pit is provided and is great to use on the beach.

If you're not going out to the stores, though, don't worry about it!

Chilling at its finest
What a great stay in this beautifully situated home. Great bay views. Nice beach with plenty of chairs and toys provided, comfy beds, game room, good WIFI. Even when it rained, we enjoyed listening to the birds and the tree frogs!! We will most definitely be back - a week wasn’t enough!!

Long Weekend Family Getaway
We LOVED our stay at the Little Bay House! The house was very clean, the beds were super comfortable and the location can not be beat. We enjoyed the onsite kayaks and paddle boards, outdoor firepit and private beach area. When it rained we played games in the sun porch and watched movies. The huge & comfy couch in the living room provided plenty of space for everyone. We went in town for doughnuts, ice cream and a little shopping. We are already planning our next vacation here!

Great House/Views!
This was a great place to stay for us and our friends who joined. There were two toddlers along with us and the inside and outside was perfect for them to run around both in the yard and the beach. The house was very clean and well-stocked with all the essentials as well plenty of entertainment options and outdoor equipment. The host was very easy to get in touch with leading up to our stay and during. There was an issue with the coffeemaker during our stay and our host coordinated to have another dropped off within a very short period of time. Great place for family and kids, highly recommend!

Family Visit
We were back in White Stone for a memorial service. This was the perfect location for our ling weekend. The lay out of a bunk bed room at one end and the adult bedrooms at the other is genius. We played corn hole , used the kayaks and thoroughly enjoyed the water access.

Excellent beach alternative!
We absolutely loved our stay at the Little Bay House! The private sandy beach and shallow water were perfect for our 1yo to play and explore. The house was just as described and well stocked. For anyone looking for an alternative to the typical beach vacation I highly recommend this property! We will surely be back!

Chesapeake house
Fantastic rental on the Chesapeake with a wonderful view of Fleet's bay in a private location. The house was clean, well appointed, and the owner was very responsive. The small beach was great for young kids and was not covered with jellyfish as most other places further from the outlet of Antipoison creek. Lots of toys- kayaks, paddle boards to play with. Would recommend and would stay here again.

A slice of Heaven
What a slice of heaven and perfect getaway to re-connect with family. The well stocked house is beyond beautifully done in a fun décor and lots of space to come together and also have some solo downtime. The beach is a dream, we sailed (our boat) kayaked, paddled boarded, floated and drank in the quiet retreat. The only downside was we had to leave! Great hosts prepped us.

Definitely will be back!
The property was exactly as described, actually even better! It was so convenient that everything was already available (e.g. linens, toilet paper, etc). The house was clean, the beds were super comfortable, the kitchen was fully stocked, and of course the views were lovely. We had so much fun, even though it rained for 1/2 of the time we were there!

Great retreat during COVID
This property made for a great place to have a safe break during COVID. We were a group of three families with three children (ages 3, 4, and 5) who have "bubbled up" in our hometown. The property is right on the bay with sand beaches to play on and plenty of privacy. The property had everything we needed to have fun in the bay during our stay: crab pot, kayaks, SUP's, life jackets, and fishing rods. There were ample adirondak and folding chairs. Our only excursions away from the house were to get oysters from Merroir and fresh fish from Miss Mary's. The inside accommodations were exactly what we were expecting based on the pictures. Everything was very clean, nice, and worked as intended. There are ample living areas and we never felt crowded. There is a kids' bedroom with six bunk beds with curtains on them to give each child a sense of privacy. Our kids loved it. The house has high speed internet which didn't have any issues handling zooms call when they had to be made. We had a great time and would highly recommend the property. Meg was very responsive and a great host.

Little bay house - perfect getaway!
We had a wonderful and relaxing week at this property. It was the perfect place to just be. The view is wonderful, the water calm and refreshing just steps away. (Great for kids!) As promised the garage was full of floats and boats and even a crab trap for our amusement. Aside from the occasional trip into town for some supplies all 12 of us spent the week just enjoying the house and all it offered. We didn’t want to leave. Meg was a great host and quick to respond to any questions. We will come back!

My husband Read and I live full time with our three daughters in the Midlothian area of Richmond, Virginia. When our family discovered Virginia’s Northern Neck we found a place with a seaside vibe, natural wooded beauty and small town charm. Since most homes in this area are privately owned and there are very few hotels many Virginians don't get a chance to know this gorgeous area of our state.

Why they chose this property

"I feel like I'm staying in a nice hotel." says my daughter, after her first night in one of our guest rooms.

Our home underwent a renovation recently. I knew exactly what I wanted from stays in vacation rentals and boutique hotels. Modern clean surroundings with lots of space for the things a family will bring along.

What makes this property unique

This is not simply a beach rental. We have beautiful surroundings that make you feel like you're in a wooded camp. This duality is what makes Virginia's Northern Neck, and Little Bay House in particular, so special.
