About this property

Quiet cottage in the woods, near Torch Lake, Shanty Creek Resort, and Short's.

Secluded, bi-level home with large master suite, living room, dining room, and kitchen upstairs, plus 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a great room with trundle beds downstairs. The cottage is nestled in the woods and has a nice view of the surrounding countryside. With 2,000 square feet of space and two living areas, there's plenty of room for a large family gathering. And the two-stall attached garage provides lots of storage space for all your gear.

A large deck and a fire pit area provide abundant spaces for the family to gather in the great outdoors!

You'll experience the peace and quiet you're looking for, as the cottage is 1/4 mile off the road. But it's only two miles to Short's Brewery, and less than 10 minutes to Torch Lake or Shanty Creek Resort. Glacial Hills Trails (31.5 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing) is right next door.

The home was built in 1979 but has recently been renovated inside.

**For winter rentals** the last section of the driveway is quite steep, so, AWD or 4WD vehicles are preferred in the winter, but there is a parking space 200' away from the house for two-wheel-drive vehicles to park if necessary.

We have two other houses that share our 45 acres at "Glacier Hills." If you have a really large group, you may want to consider those additional spaces. The "Guest House" sleeps 5 and can be seen at https://www.vrbo.com/927123 and "The Lodge" sleeps 20, and can be seen at https://www.vrbo.com/1296627

Wonderful
Great house in the woods with lots of privacy but also close to the village. Lots of little shops and places to eat nearby. We had an awesome time on the lake, its actually only a 15 min drive to the boat ramp at torch lake. Theres a place to park a boat at the end of the driveway so we ended up bringing ours with us. The house has everything you need for cooking. All we had to do was go to the grocery store and it was only 5 min down the road. Would definitely stay again!

Perfect in every way!
We had such a wonderful stay at The Cottage! The location is perfect, just a short drive to Torch Lake and downtown Bellaire, we also visited Traverse City, Charlevoix, Boyne City and Petoskey during our stay and had such a wonderful time. The house is perfect! In the 26 years we’ve been renting vacation homes, we’ve never stayed at a vacation rental that had everything you could possibly need along with a fully stocked kitchen! We were amazed and enjoyed every second of our time at the house. It was so nice and roomy for all of us, as well as clean and beautiful inside. Morning coffee on the deck listening to the birds and being surrounded by nature is exactly what we needed to melt the stress off. We couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful stay or nicer hosts. Thank you!!

Amy and I have been married for 34 years and have two adult children and one grandson. I'm a pastor, and Amy cleans houses for a living (mostly our three short-term rentals.) We enjoy traveling, entertaining, and of course, playing with our grandson! We spend our summers in a fifth-wheel camper on our property.

Why they chose this property

We moved to Bellaire from Grand Rapids 30 years ago. We just love the little village of Bellaire. It's great for outdoor activities, like golfing, skiing, snowshoeing, biking, hiking, swimming, boating, etc, but there are also lots of great places to eat and several recreational opportunities, like the bowling alley/laser maze/arcade, and the movie theater. For its size, there's a ton to do! And if you're into craft beverages, you'll find them in abundance with Short's Brewery, BeeWell Mead and Cider, Torch Lake Cellars, and Mammoth Distilling.

What makes this property unique

Because of the wooded setting and its placement on the side of a steep hill, you'll feel like you're staying in a tree house. You're sure to enjoy this house's rugged outdoorsy setting with a refined and comfortable, freshly remodeled interior.
