About this property

Starfish Home for 10, Fast EV Charger+Pet Friendly

Surrounded by Spanish-moss-draped pines and close to recreation and historic sites, this home dates back to the early 1940s, when industrialist Henry Ford developed the Richmond Hill area. It lies about 35 minutes’ drive from downtown Savannah and just steps from the Myrtle Grove Plantation, where many movies and TV series have been filmed.

Newly renovated, yet preserving the charm of yesteryear, guests will feel right at home as will well-behaved pets.

The home has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 10. The back yard is huge – big enough to park boats and multiple vehicles. The living area is quiet, private, and surrounded by trees on a 4-acre lot.

The primary bedroom has a king-sized bed. A second bedroom has 2 double beds, and a third bedroom has 3 twin-sized beds. There is one bathroom. This is a one-story home, and the bedrooms wrap around a central hallway – from which a lone fireplace heated the home back in the day.

The kitchen is original to the home and features beautiful views of pine woods. It has a refrigerator, stove and nice-sized pantry. There is no dishwasher in keeping with the kitchen’s historic nature.

The dining room has a chandelier and glass-topped table and seats 8.

The home sits on a 4-acre lot. The back yard has a picnic table, patio furniture and a fire pit for outdoor gatherings.

The Starfish House was originally built in the 1940's on the Ford Plantation, owned by Henry Ford. The house was later moved to its current location.

This area has been home to many films shot a few yards away at the Myrtle Grove Plantation. Films shot here include Glory, 7 Years a Slave, The Underground Railroad, and many others.

Just down the street is a boat ramp to put boats in the Ogeechee River (the ocean is just 4 miles away) as well as Fort McAllister State Park, which includes the site of the last battle before the fall of Savannah in the Civil War, as well as a campground and recreation area. A dog park, tennis courts, and an exercise trail are also close by.

Park next to the driveway, behind the home.

Guests have access to the whole property.

Keypad on the back door for easy access.

For stays of 38 nights or more, we are able to split your payments into multiple payments so that you do not have to pay for the entire amount upfront. Please contact us for more information on this.

The owner asks that shoes not be worn inside the house.

The inside fireplaces are NOT for guest use. The home is older and flames create a big hazard. No open flames at all, please.

Guests will need to supply their own consumables such as toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags. Starter supplies are provided.

A washer and dryer are available. They are located in a separate room on the first floor.

This home is pet friendly. The backyard is a safe place to exercise pets, and there are parks nearby for recreation.

Dog Breeds NOT Allowed are Pit Bulls, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers, Chow Chows, Presa Canarios and Wolf Hybrids. Violators will be asked to vacate the property without any refund.

Need some love
The yard have alot of ant beds. This would be an issue for people with dogs. Also someone had a cat in the main bedroom and the odor is strong. I suggest getting (miravle) pet odor killer from the pet store to get rid of the smell. The home could use a good dusting. Also we had a family member in a wheelchair. It would be nict to maybe have a ramp. The inside is great for a wheelchair once inside

Quiet and relaxed
Easy process to get in. Quiet neighborhood and neighbors. Our pup loved the yard! Close enough to Savannah for activities, but out of the city enough to appreciate nature!

Great little cottage
This house was cozy comfortable look but I can’t say 5 star, really wish I could. AC and heat was perfect for the weather and enjoyed the fire pit too. The shower needs replacing the shower head or the water pressure is awfully bad. The faucet in the bathroom was the worse, my 7 year old grandchild needed help turning the faucet on and I did as well bc of arthritis. The kitchen needs a dishwasher and the pots are completely worn out and the Teflon coating is so worn out they should be trashed. The house was charming but would not be a 5 star without updating. Never met the owner/manager but we did follow all instructions of our clean up. Other than vacuuming, mopping and dusting the we left this adorable cottage ready for the 4pm guest to ck in. To expensive for a 3 star place.
