A little lacking for the astronomical price we paid
The house layout and location were fine but lacked some thorough maintenance attention. Vacasa’s performance was one star, however, as I called three times to report various items and spoke with very pleasant folks who promised I’d be contacted within an hour. Never received the first call. Among the items I called to report were: two sliding glass doors that could not be locked; a freezer that was difficult to open with an ice maker that could not be shut off; a toilet that quit working; bathroom towel racks broken off the wall; multiple lights throughout the house that were apparently burned out; only one small trash can among the three bathrooms; no broom; deteriorating outdoor seating; and the curtains ripped out of the wall meant to cover a sliding glass door. I’ve rented homes in much better condition for half of what I paid for this. Unfortunately, much of this could have been simple fixes if Vacasa had followed through with their promises.

Right on the beach
The pool and hot tub were great and clean! Ocean and beach are literally right there. Decks with views on each floor. Walkable to the fishing pier, farmers market, and playgrounds. Well stocked kitchen with all of the utensils, pots, cups and plates we needed. Areas to improve/note: there is no bathroom on the main floor, have to go up or down stairs, mattresses need to be replaced, bedrooms need power strips that are easily accessible; outlets we’re all used up with lamps or tvs.

Great view but in need of some TLC
The views of the ocean were amazing. We stayed right after the beach restoration was complete so there was a large dune with no boardwalk or steps that was difficult for older guests to navigate. No instructions on how guests were to cross the dune. Large dining table was nice with spectacular views. There were lots of little issues with the property that need work. Most doors did not lock. Curtains were down in one room and left on the bed. One toilet was not flushing. Freezer was hard to open and close. Main floor appeared to have been painted and renovated recently. Lots of sand all around the property so even the most careful guests brought sand I to the house. Struggled with the property management company making the issues satisfactory and settled for fixing the toilet two days into our stay. Late check in at 6pm effectively wastes a day of vacation and does not help with addressing problems with the house timely.

Upsetting
For the amount of money spent in our favorite place in the world we expected to run seamless as every year has. We were told we would be notified if early check in was available and never was notified! We showed up early and was able to gain access to the home. Upon arrival the home had numerous broken items, furniture etc and the house was left filthy but had a note from the cleaning staff that it was a clean and to enjoy our stay. We made numerous attempts to reach out about the broken items and the cleanliness of the home. Day four into the stay someone reached out but stated to return the call within a few mins as they would be off for a few days. We called back and received the answering machine and didn’t receive a return call back during the remaining days of our stay! The pool was previously flooded a few weeks prior to our stay which left the pool lights and some of the amenities non working along with the pool pumping system. The outdoor shower was left with a foot and a half of sand that my mother shoveled out herself so she can enjoy her outdoor shower without becoming all sandy. The house is very outdated and un-maintenanced. For the the amount of money spent I would take my business else where and highly do not recommend booking through vacasa even though we booked via vrbo who utilized vacasa for this home. Minus the house of course the obx was breath taking as always and will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Very disappointed
The only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because of the location. Items on the listing stating they were onsite or included were not there. Walked into what looked like a half done housekeeping day. The bunkbed kids room and most importantly the master bedroom were not ready -master bathroom obviously had not been cleaned.....hairs on the floor, you could feel the dust/dirt layer in the tub. And no towels in the Master or for the bunk bed room. We did get towels, but over 24 hrs after we checked in- We also were greeted with atleast 8 cockroaches, some dead, some alive. We are from FL so we understand that if you leave doors open they will come in- however. If the property is cleaned, vacuumed and pest control services are part of the upkeep this should not be an issue when entering the property on the first day. We also think you should be honest and update the photos on line to reflect the mold/mildew growing around most of the air vents. Ceiling finishings cracked and missing. I understand it's an older home but atleast be honest in regards to the age and lack of upkeep- or adjust charge accordingly
