About Nancy Norton

We love to travel, yet we are always happy to return to Ithaca and our three dogs, one cat and many chickens. Buzz is a serious golfer when he isn't working. He works in stone and construction. Nancy's training is in counseling, but her strongest interest these days is living sustainably, gardening and cooking from scratch, supporting the growing network of local food producers, eating seasonally, complimented by food preservation through cheese making, lacto-fermentaion, root cellaring, canning, drying and freezing.

Ithaca is 'centrally isolated' - within five hours drive of much of the northeast's population, a welcoming blend of cultural sophistication and bucolic rural surroundings. Cornell University and Ithaca College help support a healthy economy, a vibrant restaurant scene and an active arts and intellectual environment. The natural beauty of the area nurtures the soul, while winter sports, hiking, and water sports provide plenty of opportunities for engaging the body. With our focus on sustainability, the Stone Quarry House has photovoltaic panels and purchases additional renewable energy to meet our electrical needs, including powering an electric car. We pay our staff a living wage, use non-toxic cleaning products, air-dry the sheets, provide fans as well as air-conditioning - every decision is made with a consideration of both the ethical consequences and reducing our carbon footprint while providing a relaxing and luxuriously comfortable environment for our guests.

What makes this Apartment unique

It is a quick ride into town by car, or a longer, less direct bus ride. Walking out the door there are panoramic views and a quiet walk down a leafy country lane. The pond offers an opportunity birdwatch, with acrobatic swallows, an occasional heron, ducks, cedar waxwings, and more.
