If you're craving a quiet change of scenery, consider a stay at this charming modern cabin located less than 50 miles from the heart of downtown Portland, and five miles from Wildwood Recreation Site. Inside, whip up anything from quick trail snacks to full-course dinners in the well-equipped kitchen complete with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and a small breakfast bar. Enjoy more formal meals together at the dining table for six - perfect for meals, laptops, or family game nights. In the living area, get a warm fire going in the river rock fireplace, settle into one of the sofas, and stream your favorite shows and movies on the flatscreen TV. And outdoors, breathe in the fresh mountain air while you soak in your private hot tub or meet up around the chimney as night falls. And if you want to get out and explore, there is an easy, year-round riverside hiking trail within walking distance that follows the Sandy River for four miles across unspoiled National Forest land.

Great place
Great place to stay, and close to lots of wilderness to explore. Cabin is so quant, cute and the decor is perfect for the area. Beautiful rooms. Hot tub was amazing, and the fire place was fully stocked with wood. Kitchen was fully stocked with utinciles and was a great place to cook a home cooked meal after a long hike. Other houses are a lot closer then pictures/descriptions indicate, but neighborhood is quiet and cozy. Only reason for not 5 stars: Vacasa is hard to get a hold of. They also offered a late check out, but never indicated that it is only available until 4pm the day you check in. We expected to be able to check out late on our laste day, after a long day out exploring with no reception, trying to email, and call them with no respons.. Next morning was able to text them, and that's when they finally told me if late check out is offered, it's inly good until 4pm ( on your check-in date)

Cozy cottage
Cozy cottage in perfect location for skiing, grocery, and restaurants, yet deep enough in the forest so only the sound of the close by river and no road noise. It’s tastefully decorated and has comfortable linens and towels. Hot tub and dog friendly are great bonus! We would definitely return!

Winter storm 2024
Beautiful cabin, but wasn’t fully equipped for a winter storm and losing power. Wood was provided for the fireplace, but propane tank was practically empty, and back up in garage was empty. Most flashlights didn’t work, and there weren’t very many candles. If we didn’t lose power, it would’ve been a great stay! If there’s a storm coming when you visit, bring enough supplies for your stay.

ZigZag Cottage
We loved all the cabin/ woodsy motif items- the old school snowshoes on the living room wall and many other tasteful decor items. The cottage is in an HOA community where the natural forest environment is appreciated and protected by design.

Overall Great
Overall we had a great time staying at this cabin. There are houses surrounding it but it is wooded enough that is still feels private. If you're going up in the winter be prepared for a power outage (the power went out during our stay for about 6 hours). It says it sleeps 9 but we felt cozy and full with 7 people. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were clean, and the fireplace was lovely.
