Lovely stay
Possum Trot is a slice of heaven on earth! Tucked away in the rolling hills, this property was great for a big group of 14 celebrating the New Year. Judith is a communicative and gracious host. Would absolutely stay again!

Wonderful escape for a birthday weekend
Lodge and farmhouse worked perfectly for our group of 15 & two pups. Visited Crabtree falls and Devil's Backbone during our stay which were both less than 20 minutes away. We grilled and cooked some large dinners and the grill & lodge kitchen made it easy. The host was super helpful in finding activities and having an emergency early check-in. Will definitely keep this Possum Trot in mind for future events!

Double celebrations location was awesome
So many things about this site and the lovely host made this a very special long weekend. Very responsive. And it was fun to feel like she was also excited for our visit.

Best Winter Storm Ever
The property itself is amazing and well maintained and suitable for just about any small to medium size venue. We are looking forward to returning and enjoying more in the years to come! But, if our host is the example of a VRBO host, then VRBO will be our only option for staying overnight on any excursion. Tending to normal circumstances can offer some opportunity for a host to shine in a time of need or want, but when a winter storm threatens to close roads and shut down power in the middle of your stay, you really can learn a lot about your host. Her genuine concern for our accommodations and safety created a comfort that allowed us to do nothing less than enjoy the winter storm for the beauty and fun that it brought. Simple offerings of running to the store if we needed, checking on our comfort, and her highly attentive hospitality toward the specifics of what we needed were beyond the pale of expectation. Sometimes along the way, we are fortunate to make a friend outside of our daily radius. Our host has become a friend to me and my family, and I hope we have many more opportunities to return.

Great place for a large family!
We loved our three night family get together at Possum Trot. The two buildings fit 20 of us easily and allowed children room to spread out. Very well supplied, especially the kitchen!! Judith is very responsive and generous. We had a huge bonfire our last night. Great memories were made!

The original Possum Trot Farmhouse has been in the Stratton family for three generations ... now lovingly restored by Carole and John Stratton, a new Lodge/Barn has been built to host frivolity, celebrations and special events of all kinds ... in addition to holding two bedrooms plus a sleeping gallery (for the kids and all who are young at heart!), a gourmet country kitchen, sunporches, a screened-in Breakfast porch ... Carole and John's vision was to take the original family home and share it with all who feel its spirit and sense of sanctuary.

Why they chose this property

A recent review sums it up best, "Possum Trot Farm is an absolute treasure. It feels a bit like stepping back in time ... so many cool furnishings and knick-knacks and curiosities, there's almost a cozy museum quality to it. Despite the historic nature of the house, it has most of, if not all, the creature comforts that a modern day traveler could want ... flat screen TV, cable, Netflix, wifi, good water pressure, great beds. And the beautiful landscape, including the wonderful, deep, southern-style porches, just made it the perfect place for a small group of friends to call home for a few days. Judith's communication, even at the late hour that we arrived, was spot on and clutch. Highly recommended! p.s. thank you SO much for accommodating us last week. We could not imagine a more comfortable and well suited place for our little crew. Aside from the amazing house, its decor and the landscape, your communication was spot on. That really goes a long way when one finds oneself as a stranger in a strange land. 5 stars all around! Warmest regards ... "

What makes this property unique

Our setting, our simple love of human (and Mother) Nature, our love of people and our love of wonderful things handed down from generation to generation ...
