We took a chance with a listing that did not yet have any reviews and were rewarded! My self, my husband and our two teenagers spent a week at this delightful house on our first vacation in several years. On our first trip to the Asheville area, we wanted an out-of-the-way property but didn't want to be too far from restaurants, shopping, and hiking. This property put us about 20 minutes from everything, which was perfect. We loved the dirt road and steep switchback driveway (thank you, Subaru all-wheel drive!). The secluded hillside lot was private. Nearby properties provided an entertaining mix of farm animal sounds in addition to the regular birdsong of the woods. The house is creatively finished and decorated. The upstairs bathroom with an outdoor shower and giant circular window is definitely a highlight! Three out of four rooms bedrooms had comfortable and quiet beds. The one upstairs bedroom had a very noisy mattress and box spring and made so much noise that our daughter preferred the couch. Two of the bathrooms have windows without cover, so you have to trust the remoteness of the lot and others in the house or not care about modesty much. Sound carries from the upstairs bathroom a bit, None of the doors block much sound aside from the first-floor bedroom, which could be used as a separate efficiency apartment. The kitchen included everything we needed to prepare simple meals, which we did most evenings. We spent hours reading outside on the covered deck. There is plenty of seating, but something with a bit more padding would be a nice edition. Insects are part of living in the woods, but we found quite a few carpenter ants in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs bedroom, especially at night. Overall, we were VERY happy with the house and would stay again!
