About this property

Beautiful Lakefront home with private dock - close to everything.

This Chalet-style home is located on West Harbor Pond, a beautiful and serene 84 acre fresh water lake located in the heart of the Boothbay Peninsula. The two acre property has 250 feet of private frontage on the lake with a stone terraced lawn leading to the dock & float, a perfect place to swim, sunbath and go for a canoe or kayak ride (included). Enjoy evenings around the outdoor fire pit, gas fire bowl or in front of the two-story fireplace in the living room with a wall of windows overlooking the lake. A truly special home close to downtown, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, land trust properties and more.

For the 2024 season, the home is being completely renovated. This season will see a modified layout, a new open kitchen with all new appliances, including a gas stove, new flooring, new wrap-around deck and siding. In 2023 the first phase of renovations included an new fire bowl, gas fireplace, central heat and AC system, two renovated bathrooms, all new deck and home furnishings. Most furniture is from West Elm and the well-equipped home is decorated in a mid-century modern style with a fun swanky 70's vibe. Hello Austin Powers.
This is the forth home to be added to the Boothbay Vacation Homes portfolio.

Exquisite, peaceful & fun family getaway
Our family had a lovely two weeks at this property. The house is perfectly outfitted with an extensive kitchen, a living room that is bright and inviting, immersed in sunlight and views from the floor to ceiling windows, and a wraparound deck that kept our family lounging and cooking outside. This property has so many thoughtful design and hospitality touches, from the bed linens and bedside lamps with touch pads and USB charges, to the many outdoor seating and dining areas. As an architect, I loved that they honored the original design of the house with very stylish interior updates that are contemporary, very high quality, and timeless, Design within Reach vibe.... a rare combination in the VRBO market! They have carefully furnished the house so that it is comfortable, inviting, and "lives large." Mark and Buzz are great ambassadors for the region, we used their guidebook extensively, including a great trip to Monhegan Island, and a local lobster spot that was remarkable. We explored the region by car during the day, and either ate out at one of the many great restaurants nearby, or cooked at home after a stop at the marvelous Pinkhams. We were close enough to town to make it to the yacht club in a few minutes, but felt like we were on a remote lake with loons well away from any area like Boothbay Harbor. We roasted marshmallows by the fire pit and watched the stars. Our girls lazed on the platform by the pond, jumped in canoes, built fairy houses at the base of lovely trees, and enjoyed many vigorous swims. The only minor negative was that the road in front can be a bit busy. Sometimes we heard a bit of motorcycle engine or had lights from the road, not enough to wake anyone or truly disturb us, and a small price to pay for being so close to the action in the BH area. A heavenly two weeks, were sad to leave!

We are Mark & Buzz, we have lived in Boothbay Harbor since 2003 and own the Topside Inn and Mid-Town Motel. We have four rental homes in the area as part of the Boothbay Vacation Home portfolio; “Dock View” and ‘The Boathouse” are in the downtown area, “Water’s Edge Cottage” is on Linekin Bay and “The Lake House” is located on West Harbor Pond. We are very fortunate to be able to live and work is such an incredibly beautiful area and we are here to answer any questions and help our guests plan a fun and relaxing vacation in mid-coast Maine. Do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions.

Why they chose this property

This home came on the market in the fall of 2021 and we knew instantly that it would make an incredible vacation property for people to enjoy. The property is very private and the setting is simply beautiful, the home sits up above the lake with incredible views from the two-story living room windows, wraparound deck and stone terraced lawn. The dock is the perfect place to sunbath, fish or launch a kayak or canoe to explore the lake. The home will have a new gas fireplace, grill, fire pit and all new furnishings for the 2022 season.

We have all stayed in 'rental properties' that feel like rental properties; minimal kitchen equipment, 1 pot, 1 pan, 8 plates, 8 knives, forks and spoons, sparsely furnished rooms and bathrooms, and art from HomeGoods (I do like HomeGoods). This is not what you will find at our properties. We have lived in three of the four homes and have outfitted and furnished these homes completely. You will feel like you are staying at a friend’s home who happens to be away. The art work is real, the furniture is high quality and we use the same high-end linens we use at our five-star hotel. We have had guests cook Thanksgiving dinner at our homes and we very happy to find everything they needed. And, if something is missing, we are there to take care of it for you.

What makes this property unique

Mark & Buzz were named "Innkeepers of the Year" for 2020 by HospitalityMaine - "We know how to take care of our properties and our guests".
