About this property

The Premier Syracuse Lake Wawasee lakefront home, sleeps 20, new furniture

Now taking 2024 reservations!

PIER 382, located in the center of Syracuse Lake's prestigious North Shore, is enormous and comfortably accommodates up to 20 people. Many of the homes on Syracuse Lake's North Shore sit on a hill overlooking the lake, as does Pier 382. With the lake on one side and custom homes and beautiful Maxwelton golf course on the other, this is an ideal place for a walk or bike ride. The lakes boast an excellent set of walking trails around the lakes. Many residents have taken to golfcarts and the like to get around the area.
Built in 2004, this custom lake home has an inviting open floorplan that is so often lacking in older lake homes. The custom design also takes full advantage of its "terraced" lot or topography, providing each of its 3 levels with spectacular views of the lake. Over 6,000 sq ft of living space, 7 sleeping areas (6 Large Bedrooms plus the huge Dormer room with 8 twin beds), 4 Full Baths, 3 Full Kitchens. The main floor kitchen is enormous and very well appointed with virtually every appliance and accessory imaginable. It's not an over statement to call it "gourmet."
Pier 382 is the perfect destination for large family gatherings. The enormous great room w/cathedral ceiling and fireplace is often the center point for the day or evenings activities. The wall of lake side windows offers panoramic views of the lake, and the dining area is set up for large groups and is great for meals or games. Spacious main level balcony creates the perfect place to catch all the action.
Lower / mezzanine level could easily serve as a 2 Bedroom apartment, w/ Full Bath and full kit w/ breakfast bar, family room and private balcony. This area creates that "someplace else" to read, nap or just get away for a bit. There is even a steam shower. Just outside this area is the Mezzanine Balcony, which has an LP fire-ring in the center of a six person seating area with bar stools and overlooks the lakeside patio.
Lakeside patio has a new upholstered seating area, Adirondack chairs, lounge chairs and bar w/ stools and refrigerator. We just added a 2nd propane "fire ring" for lake side patio, perfect for those cool evenings. Plenty of room to sit, lounge or sun by the lake.
Syracuse Lake and the surrounding area is perfect for, swimming, boating, fishing, sailing, golfing or just relaxing. The lake is beautiful, the water so clean and clear you can see the sandy lake bottom and even fish swimming by from the balcony above. The lake bottom around our pier is very sandy and shallow out to about the 4th or 5th section where it starts dropping off to about 6-7 feet at the end of the pier. Our pier is a bit longer than most and guests are welcome bring their own boat or rent from local marinas, a few of which will drop off and pick up at the pier.
Syracuse Lake is connected to Lake Wawasee via a channel that goes under the rather low rail bridge on the south side of the lake. NOTE: Guests wishing to boat between the lakes should inquire first, as some boats will not fit under the rail bridge. Both of our speed boats fit under most of the year, but pontoon boats typically will not.
Syracuse lake is an all sports lake with lots of water skiing and tubing. Growing up we preferred Syracuse because its smaller size made it calmer than Wawasee. The North shore of Syracuse Lake is known for its meticulously maintained properties, many of which overlook the lake from a hill. (We like to think of it as the "better part" of the lakes....but we might be biased :) ...or... we might be right!
The town of Syracuse and the surrounding area are quite charming and offer a multitude of activities and attractions.
Pier 382 is not primarily a rental property, this is our family lake home, and we take pride in maintaining it at that level for both ourselves and our guests. All the bedrooms have new (fall 2022) beds and mattresses with quality linens. We have a great team of housekeepers that understand and maintain the level of cleanliness we and our guests expect.
We are committed to making your stay fantastic and will go the extra mile to make that happen. Let us know what we can do to make your stay even better. We greet all guests personally to ensure they are familiar with the location and operation of all the amenities the home offers.
Please contact us, we'd love to chat with you and help plan your next stay.

Great house! Great time!
This is my third time staying at this house. The last two times with the current owner. They continue to make upgrades to the home. The house has everything you could want and more. The lake is beautiful and has a sandy bottom and easy in and out steps. Lots of steps so be ready for that.

The best house for our family!
Doug and Leslie have gone above and beyond with this rental! We stayed a couple years ago and the updates they’ve made since being the new owners were UNREAL! The 8 twin beds in the bonus room upstairs was SO fun for all the kids, the new couch fit so many of us, the downstairs outdoor furniture was amazing at night, and the communication was the best I’ve received from a VRBO host. Doug took the time to show us around when we first arrived and was so kind. Not many homes can fit our family of 21, but this property fit us comfortably. We cannot wait to book again for next summer! Thanks again to Doug and Leslie for providing a home to make such great memories in ❤️

Great Lake rental
This is a great house for a large group. We had 4 different families and everyone had a bed. The lake is nice. There are many lake toys available for use as a guest. We rented a boat and we’re able to dock it overnight at the house. Tons of bath and beach towels available. The kitchen was fully stocked. Will definitely rent again!!

About the host

Hosted by Doug and Leslie Dickmann

Host profile image
We are Doug and Leslie Dickmann. Both of us basically grew up on Indiana Lakes from early childhood. Leslie's family on Morse Reservoir and Doug's family on Wawasee. These lakes are a part of us. We grew up learning to swim, ski, sail, boat and fish on these lakes. By 2005 our parents had sold their lake properties. The pause has made us even more excited and thankful to have a place of our own. We purchased "Pier 382" in Sept. 2021. Though the previous owners did great things with the property, we have made several updates and of course new furnishings.
Our back story: Leslie is the owner of AAA Exterminating and Doug just retired as the Director of the Tucker School of Real Estate. We live in Greenfield, IN just east on Indy, so we are "hands on" hosts. Doug is available 24/7 and is typically the one who greets guests upon arrival.
We bring in a professional cleaning crew following each rental to properly and completely clean the property from top to bottom, linens etc. Guests can trust the property will be clean and safe. We believe cleanliness is next to...you know what. We have all new smoke, fire detectors, several fire extinguishers and 2nd story escape ladders.
Guests will find a helpful "guest guide" that details how to use the different appliances, grills, fireplace etc. as well as area attractions, golf courses, restaurants, shops and museums.
Pier 382 is not just a rental property, this is our lake home, and we will not rent for fraternity parties or just anyone who can pay rent. Our goal is to share the beauty of this lake with each group of guests in hopes of creating wonderful experiences and lasting memories. When we decided to rent the property, we committed to doing it the right way. The way that creates a spectacular experience for each guest, and makes them want to come back again.
We are so proud that we have a perfect record of all 5's in our VRBO reviews, and we plan to continue this record.

Why they chose this property

PIER 382 offers it all. Unbelievable Home, Ideal lot, Premier Lake. Over 5000 sq. ft. of luxurious accommodations, 7 bedrooms and 4 baths, room for everyone. This multi-level luxurious home takes full advantage of it's walk-out lot. Each level has a "turret" shaped room offering panoramic views of the lake. Enormous great room and main level balcony provide breath taking lake views. Primary kitchen is truly gourmet, endless counter space, "prep island," wine frig., commercial grade appliances and all the accessories. Large Weber gas grill outside.
Large main floor bedroom next to full bath, for those who don't like stairs. Spacious master w/ personal sitting area w/ great views of the lake, plus a luxurious bath with jetted tub and walk-in shower. Two more large bedrooms upstairs plus "dormer room" which has 8 twin beds. All other beds are king, with one queen. The lower or "mezzanine" level, offers two bedrooms. One w/ the footprint of the master bedroom with panoramic views of the lake has a king bed, other a queen bed. The lower level also has a full bath, complete kitchen, and family room. The lower level doesn't simply add more bedrooms, it creates a 2nd living area,... that "someplace else" that is often hard to find at large gatherings, yet so needed. Someone wants to watch something else or just get away for a nap or quiet time.
But when it comes to getting everyone together, this home delivers. Dining table seats 10+, perfect for meals and games. We have several great games we've played for years, perfect for a large group and kids.
The garage is really more of a rec. room, with epoxy floors, pool table, air hockey, foosball, ping pong and large screen TV. Fun and games for all.
And of course, the lake. The lake level has large patio with quality seating area, lounge chairs and bar w/stools. Our pier is extra-long with a large seating area at the end.
Lake is crystal clear with sandy bottom, perfect for wadding, kids, or to take out the kayaks.

What makes this property unique

PIER 382 HAS IT ALL. It's has been entirely updated with new paint, and furnishings throughout. All bedrooms offer new beds with new top quality mattresses and linens. The new leather couches are softer than a baby mink's butt and comfortable enough to sleep on, but no need to, w/7 bedrooms, there is room everyone.
Syracuse Lake and Lake Wawasee are part of the Lake Michigan water shed, which makes for the pristine clear water. Unlike the murky waters of reservoirs caused by the flow of silt from the river or stream that feds them, these two lakes are spectacularly clean and clear. In the early 1900's ice was commercially taken from the lakes and shipped by rail to Chicago.
These two lakes provide excellent fishing, swimming, boating and golfing. Growing up, we always came over to Syracuse to water ski. In Jan, you'll see the "fishing nuts" in their "fishing huts" on the ice.
There is wealth of history in the lakes region to explore. From the quaint town of Syracuse, it's nice shops and fine dining, to the shopping, crafts and culture of Nappanee and Shipshewana.
In Auburn, (1 hr. away), are two of our nation's finest car museums. The Auburn Cord Duesenberg ACD, museum, celebrating these iconic Indiana automobiles & National Auto and Truck Museum NATMUS, both have extensive collections of automobiles as well as trucks and service vehicles of every variety. If you're an auto enthusiast, you need to see these collections.

We provide a few bikes and trikes to ride, two kayaks, books, games, and of course the lake for swimming, boating and fishing plus golf a 9 iron away.
We're proud to have past renters, (families, golf buddies etc.) coming back & continuing a tradition. We know of no other Syracuse / Wawasee lake front property that offers more space, bedrooms with such quality appointments or better location.

Doug & Leslie are committed to making each stay special and memorable. Let us know of any special requests. We would be honored to be your host.
