Great family place
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. There was plenty of room. The bathrooms and kitchen were well stocked with towels, paper products, pots and pans and everything we needed for our getaway. Comfy beds were a plus. The kids enjoyed the pool and fishing in the pond as well as playing basketball. We had a little storm blow through and lost power for a short time. We had no problem at all reaching out to the property owners, and getting help to make sure it was reported and power was restored in a reasonable time. We definitely look forward to coming back again.

Getaway Weekend
Pond and pool provided fun for everyone. Home had wonderful screened in porch and had plenty of room for all of us. Kitchen was incredibly well-stocked with all necessary utensils and the like. Hosts were very responsive and helpful. Perfect little getaway that was also close enough to run into town for various items as needed. We would definitely stay again.

An Idyllic Home and Property!
This beautiful home provides fun and relaxation for the whole family. We’re two retired grandparents from California who wanted to find a home with “something to do” for the grandkids while we visited in Texas. Boy, did this place deliver! The sparkling pool was “sparkling and clean” all week, which was truly appreciated. Our grandkids are 3 boys ages 9 and 11 and 1 granddaughter age 8 and having a pool all to themselves was something really special. When they weren’t swimming they were fishing in the pond stocked with fish. They were all able to catch fish and have some bragging rights! It was also the first time the kids went fishing with their father and that is a priceless memory. With so much property to explore, we took walks each day and saw bunnies, heron and neighboring horses. The home has what I call a “bunk” room that all 3 boys slept in like a fun summer camp. Beautiful porches wrap around the house and it was no nice to watch the kids swim and enjoy a glass of wine. Finally, the home decor is so charming and unique. This was truly a wonderful experience for our whole family and we’re so grateful we found this listing. It’s even prettier than the pictures!

About the host

My husband, Bret, and I enjoy hosting people from all over the U.S. and the world at our three rustic homes, all with spectacular views and lots of privacy. We've discovered we have a knack for creating spaces that make guests feel at home by adding special touches like outdoor lighting and rustic furniture and by capitalizing on natural settings.

Bret owns an investment advisory firm in Rockwall. Leslie works part-time as the marketing director for Rockwall Urgent Care and as an editor/ghostwriter. We have three grown children, all of whom are married to lovely people. We have two granddaughters now and two grandsons due April 2022.

Bret and I also enjoy making rustic-industrial furniture. Both of our homes showcase pieces we've built, including a dining table, TV stands, coffee tables, headboards, night stands, desks, and shelves. The things we couldn't build we discovered at First Monday in Canton, Texas, one of the largest flea markets in the U.S. NOTE: Canton, TX is less than 45 minutes from all three of our places.

Why they chose this property

We have three properties--all with spectacular views. Five Points Rockwall is a 4/3 estate home on six acres in Rockwall, TX (less than 25 miles from downtown Dallas), that overlooks a 1.5-acre private pond. Five Points Lake Fork, a 4/2 log home in Alba, TX is situated on No Name Cove on World-Famous Lake Fork, one of the world's premier bass fishing lakes. The Best Little A-frame in Texas is situated on Kitsee Inlet, a wide expanse of the western portion of Lake Tawakoni.

We chose these properties for their secluded locations, their water views, and the fact that they have rustic elements to their architecture. Leslie grew up in a rustic, cedar log cabin on a Colorado mountainside. Bret grew up in a stone farmhouse in the Texas hill country. Our own style is a hybrid of the two--with a little industrial-boho thrown in.

What makes this property unique

Our places, with their rustic feel and colorful interiors, provide an escape. While many people wouldn't choose that style for their primary residence, they enjoy it for a long weekend or a family vacation.

We offer fishing (please bring your own poles and bait and tackle) at all of our homes, as well as kayaking (again, please bring your own).
