About this property

Casa Piedra — Short Drive from Big Bend

10 minutes from Big Bend and Terlingua Ghost Town. Casa Piedra is a beautiful air-conditioned casita perfect for the lone traveler or couple looking to experience this special part of West Texas.

This cozy one-room with king bed and one-bathroom casita is located in the heart of Terlingua where you can walk over for dinner and drinks at the iconic Starlight Theatre Restaurant & Saloon. Or grab a hot cup of coffee and a breakfast burrito in the morning at the local cafe.

Details are everything in this rental, from the river rock wall in the bathroom, to the mixed-material ceiling, to the hand-built bonus outdoor shower. Casa Piedra features a king-sized bed, large bathroom, mini-fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, Berkey water filter, air conditioning and heat, WiFi, and an outdoor fire pit -- wood is not included.

Guests will have access to the entire casita, along with private parking just outside the place.

The neighborhood is Terlingua's iconic Ghost Town. Just yards away, you can see some of the old mining ruins from an era when this town was livelier.

There is free parking on the property.

Casa Piedra is the modern version of one of Terlingua Ghost Town's historic mining ruins -- complemented by its surroundings yet still charming. It's also riving minutes from Big Bend and walking minutes from the center of Ghost Town. A great spot to be for those wanting to experience this special part of west Texas.

Great getaway casita
We had a great time at this property. Close to the park, lots of fun spots to eat around, and the place itself was clean and nicely furnished. The outdoor shower was a treat!

Terlingua Casa Piedra
Very clean and we enjoyed the starry skies and fire pit. The whole area is very primitive but this was close to the local restaurants and there is a small grocery store a few miles away. Close to the Big Bend park entrance which was the reason for our trip.

Cozy spot close to the park
We were really impressed with this place. It is very cute and cozy. It is right in the Ghost Town within walking distance to several places. It was only 20 mins to the park entrance and around 30 minutes to the Chisos basin. Coming back after hikes and hitting the rain shower was one of the best features. And you can grab some dinner right around the corner followed by some of the best stargazing in the country right outside the casita. We would 100% stay here again next time (assuming it isn’t already booked) because it is one of the best places to stay when visiting the park and surrounding areas. Thanks for a great visit.

Great cottage
Clean, walking distance to several restaurants, and very close to Big Bend National Park. The keurig was a nice touch. The only suggestion I have is to to bring another towel if you plan on hiking a lot. There’s only one bath towel per person, so when showering twice a day for a few days you might want a second towel. The bed was extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed the fire pit and board games.

great location in Terlingua near BBNP
The Casita is very well located and nicely laid out. Very clean and exactly as pictured. The bed was comfortable and the outside shower was divine. Nice furnishings and good coffee selection all there for your use. The only drawback I can mention is that none of the windows opened and at night it is nice to have a little fresh air coming in. The AC unit seemed to be straining quite a bit and it never got as cool in the room as I would have liked. Also, I am not personally a fan of sheets that are not 100% cotton and while these were perfectly clean, I think they were that bamboo material that caused both of us to be pretty hot at night. Other pluses: nice firepit. Lots of fluffy towels. Bath products in both the inside and outside showers, good pillows.
