About this property

Cozy log cabin near the Smoky Mountains

Sugar Cabin is a comfortable and nicely furnished log cabin nestled on a wooded lot in the Sugar Valley Springs neighborhood near the historic town of Waynesville and Maggie Valley.. The Smoky Mountain National Park and Cataloochee Valley area are few miles away with quick access to amazing day hikes, breathtaking vistas, waterfalls and rivers, and the world-renowned Blue Ridge Parkway.. The cabin is only a short drive to the Cataloochee Ski Area while the City of Asheville, with all its great restaurants, shops, breweries, art galleries, architectural marvels, and funky/hip yet sophisticated vibe is a mere thirty-five minutes away. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is easy, while Waynesville and Maggie Valley offer restaurants, grocery and drug stores, wine cellars, antique shops and most anything else you might require. Take amazing day trips, hikes, and adventures, and return to your cozy cabin to recoup and relax for the evening.
Sugar Cabin is fully stocked with furnishings, appliances, linens, kitchen ware, etc., accommodates up to five people, (4 adults and 1 children) with two in the principal bedroom in a hickory pole king-sized bed and ensuite bathroom with shower, two in the guest room with a queen-sized bed, and one in the open living area on a high-quality inflatable queen-sized bed. A second bathroom with shower, tub and washer and dryer is situated between the bedrooms and common area. The living area and principal bedroom open, via sliding glass doors, to the expansive wood deck with rocking chairs, Adirondack chairs, a swinging bench, a fire table and a Bristol table ideal for relaxing while enjoying views of the valley below and mountains beyond.
Entertainment is provided by a new 65-inch 4K smart TV (Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube, etc.) in the living area, as well as a TV with Roku in the principal bedroom. High speed Wi-Fi internet access is provided, and a desk offers a dedicated place for laptop sessions in the common area. Board games and cards are provided for fun evenings. A Weber propane grill sits just outside the living area, and the large open kitchen (supplied with all new cutlery, chinaware, pots, pans, and equipment) features a gas oven and stove with a flat griddle built in. A remotely controlled gas fireplace in the living room offers ample warmth and a soothing ambiance on cold nights, while a central HVAC system delivers heated or cooled air to the cabin as needed. Ceiling fans in the living room and each bedroom enhance year-round comfort.
This clean, well-equipped cabin situated just outside of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park offers access to boundless hiking and sightseeing options in a world famous natural and historic environment. Each season offers a special experience - from spectacular fall colors to winter sports activities, or the long days and festivals of summer, there is much to admire and enjoy here. Beyond endless hiking trails (over 800 miles in the Smokies) and amazing long range mountain vistas, the area offers white water rafting, trout fishing, gambling (at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino, not far away), winter snow skiing and tubing, lake boating, zip-lining, a famous motorcycle museum, seasonal festivals and farmer’s markets, antique hunting, old barns and cabins, amazing photography, moonshine sampling, mountain biking, horseback riding, animal spotting (elk, deer, turkey, bears, birds, etc.) and – perhaps most alluringly – relaxation and rejuvenation in the fresh mountain air. And, when the desire for urban amenities strikes, head to Asheville for the day - with the calming assurance that the mountain cabin awaits.

Small but good
This is a nice, small cabin. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and getting in was easy. The roads to access the property are good and not too challenging for the mountains. The driveway is steep but short so as long as the weather is good there are no issues there. WiFi worked well and the gas logs were a great addition. The kitchen is well stocked with pots and pans if you want to cook, but Waynesville is just down the road if you prefer to eat out. Be aware that this cabin is in a neighborhood, so if you're looking for a secluded place this isn't it. If you don't mind other cabins/houses nearby this is a great choice that we would book again without any concerns.

Long Weekend Getaway
Property was just as presented in the listing. There wasn't a thing that we were missing during our stay. We cooked in along with dining out and enjoyed this quiet getaway. Communications was great with Maria. We look forward to returning again.

First rate cabin!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sugar Cabin! Everything was so clean. We loved sitting on the deck in the afternoon drinking hot tea and munching snacks.
