Ghosted by the Owner
Communication with the owner is the issue. When I landed I text the owner on the phone number I was provided. I was told that someone would meet me at the villa with the keys. Thankfully my taxi driver spoke Spanish because he had to call the staff twice as to their location. We sat in front of the villa for 30 minutes waiting. The lady meeting us spoke no English and was sitting at the back of the villa on a dirt road. All I can say is that I was very thankful my taxi driver could navigate this issue and find them.
That night I discovered that I had no hot water. I tried reaching the owner on text, on email and then by texting another Los Cabos vacation rental representative. He said he would try to reach the owner and the next day when I followed up he said "sorry I haven't heard back."
I finally received a response back from the owner when I emailed the owner on VRBO. This was day 5 with no hot water. The owner responded and then maintenance showed up and was able to get the hot water working on Day 5 of Day 7 of my vacation.
When I returned home I emailed the owner expressing my concerns about the communication and made a few recommendations, and asked if he would consider any compensation because of not having any "hot water" for 5 days.
I never received a response back again, "GHOSTED" but I did receive a notification that he had rated me on VRBO and I wasn't able to see what he wrote until 2 weeks. I have no idea what he wrote about me.
The written ad also also misrepresents because there is not a queen size bed in the guest bedroom there are 2 twin beds and the villa only sleeps 4 not 6.
The one positive things was the villa was very clean!
