About this property

Crescent Beach Bungalow C

Summary:
This roomy 1 bedroom condo is tucked within a privately owned triplex, only 2 blocks from the beach and a public boat ramp off Green Road. You can enjoy the Atlantic Ocean sunrises and gaze upon breathtaking sunsets from the Intracoastal Waterway side.

The condo is the ideal vacation home for couples or single, career-minded, individuals looking for a beach retreat.

Located just south of historic downtown St Augustine and close to everything St Augustine has to offer.

The Neighborhood:
Our quiet little neighborhood sits right off A1A just a five-minute walk to the beach and public boat ramp.

Other Things to Note:
We love Florida living and all that comes with it, even the wildlife. Guests should keep in mind we share our environment with a variety of wildlife here in Florida including insects, reptiles, birds, and more. While we do have regular pest control, you may see some of these friends during your stay. Keeping doors & windows closed and food stored & sealed properly ensures a little lizard or other friends won't come in.

Lovely spot between the ocean and Intracoastal Waterway
We were only able to stay for a few days, but had a truly lovely time. We enjoyed using the unit's bikes to get lunch at Tony's; had a great time star gazing on the benches at the top of the boardwalk at the Green Road public beach access; had a yummy meal at Safe Harbor Seafood Restaurant; watched some beautiful sunsets and saw dolphins at the Green Road boat ramp; and spent a lot of peaceful time walking and hanging out on the gorgeous Crescent Beach. The sand is perfect! Oh, and the hammock chairs are a comfy touch for the front porch. Make sure you take a walk down Charles Street to get a feel of the authentic charm of barrier island neighborhoods of old. It is a bit of a trek to walk to the beach access points (our walking speed got us to Cubbedge Rd. access- bathroom and parking lot-- in about 8 minutes, and to the beautiful Green Road access in about 10 minutes). If you're going to be schlepping a lot of beach things, might be best to just drive and park in the lot. The bed in the rental was comfy and I appreciated the curtains to help block out some of the early morning light. The pull-out couch in the living room area gets bright very early, so put kids who won't care there ;P Also, the HVAC has a bright LED screen that makes for a not-dark sleeping environment, but I found you can use the remote to turn that off. Shower/tub is somewhat slippery, so be aware. Also, there's soap provided for everywhere except the shower. When we were there, all of the pans had Teflon that was more scratched up than we would use at home, so if you're concerned about that kind of thing, you might want to bring your own pan. Also, the dishes are washed by the previous guests, not the cleaning crew, so that ends up like you might expect. If you have to do a lot of computer work while you're here (my partner worked two full days and I just worked a few hours on my computer), know that the chairs aren't really comfortable for long sits. The couch will be where you end up, so maybe this isn't the best choice if you're doing a lot of remote work. Wifi was great for what we needed, though. Overall, we loved our visit to this charming area and would definitely stay at this unit again. Kayla was GREAT at communication!

Beach getaway
Our experience at Kayla’s property was very good . Our communication with her was seamless and timely. The house is located approximately two blocks from the beach , with convenient access points near the home. The house itself is very cozy and tastefully decorated. We loved the hammocks on the balcony ! The house had all the necessary and basic supplies for cooking . Could have used ice trays though . The only issue that we had was the bed. It wasn’t very comfortable, especially for my husband who has back problems. A tv in the bedroom would be nice too! Overall, we had a great experience. Thank you Kayla ! 🥰

About the host

Growing up with all the water and sunshine I could handle in Tampa, Florida, gave me an incite into all that the outdoors had to offer. Growing up in a bustling big city made me yearn for a smaller town vibe. I attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Home of the swamp, both literally and figuratively.

Following my undergraduate studies, I longed to see more of the world so I set my sights on getting into the Global MBA program with the University of North Florida located in Jacksonville, Florida. (I think y’all can see the trend—I am a Florida sunflower through and through.)

My graduate studies led me to Europe for about a year. Our first stop was Germany, and naturally we took on Oktoberfest. Our study time was quickly engulfed with travel to a new city each weekend. Our cohort was made up of German, American, Polish and Chinese students. Our local German students took me to their hometowns and I truly was able to appreciate the rich culture and history of Germany.

The next country I was lucky enough to live in was Germany’s eastern neighbor, Poland.

Poland is another one of the world’s hidden gems. The charming people and culture of this country won my heart. The city of Warsaw is bustling with nightlife and universities. People from all over the world come to soak up all the culture they can.

I tell you all of this because this world wide graduate studies only blossomed me into the traveling sunflower I have become. When I traveled to St Augustine for a weekend from Jacksonville I knew this place was special and wanted to one day live and own property here.

Why they chose this property

When I found Crescent Beach/St. Augustine I felt that it has all the charm of a small town with the amenities of a much larger city. As I walked through our charming neighborhood and to the beach I realized I must own a piece of this beautiful area. It gives me a renewed energy to walk the beach and talk to the friendly beach dwellers.

What makes this property unique

I love swinging from the porch hammock chair. I smell the sweet salty air and digest a book or two while I vacation here. In the spring I love to open every single slider on the front of the condo to bring that fresh salty air into the condo. This space gives me such tranquility and peace; even through an ever changing and slightly crazy world!
