Sewer Gas Odor Was Never Resolved - Left Early
We stayed at this place in July. We arrived on a Monday to a surprise alarm and an odor. We did not realize the intensity of the odor which smelled like sewer gas until the middle of the night. The property management company came out the next morning and told us the odor was due to plumbing water traps. We flushed all drains and opened the windows. Each night the smell intensified. We could not sleep in the master bedroom on any night so we slept on the couch. By Friday morning we couldn’t take it anymore so we left. We were scheduled to stay 2 more nights. We asked for a complete refund of $1,500 and only were able to get 500. Back. Before they came out on the second day to try and fix it, we let them know that 1/2 bath toilet leaked as well. They reseated the toilet in the main bath instead. The plumber came out again to fix the 1/2 bath and told us that there was a wrench and a pair of pliers in the plumbing. I mention this because when we were stating our case to get our money back, the property management company told us, “well, the owner did have to pay to get a plumber on the property”. Yes he did …. And several other service people who were there every day of our stay for a problem they never fixed. It is too bad. The house and the property are really great, but the odor made it uninhabitable.
