About this property

Peaceful coastal escape in historic neighborhood near beaches

A small condo with lots of comfort! This remodeled and customized space has everything your family needs for a quiet getaway to the beach, an exciting fishing trip, and everything in-between.

Nestled in historic Lanark Village, this 1941 apartment was once officers’ quarters for soldiers training for D-Day at Camp Gordon Johnston. Today, the area is part of Florida's Forgotten Coast and offers access to the best beaches and nature viewing North Florida has to offer. Visit Carrabelle Beach (10 minutes) to watch dolphin and seahawks hunt or head to St. George Island (30 minutes) to boogie board in the clear surf; visit in fall to experience the mass migration of Gulf Fritillary butterflies; hike or kayak in Tate’s Hell State Forest; or just sit on the patio and be entertained by our local population of white squirrels.

If you’re a golfer, Lanark Village offers a small par-3 course, while the course at St. James Bay is just a few miles down the road and is designated as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. If you bring your boat, overnight slips are available less than a mile away at the Lanark Market boat basin. Dog Island, accessible only by boat, is a beautiful place to lounge in the clear water and maybe even catch a cobia. Apalachicola (30 minutes) offers excellent shopping and dining experiences for days you just want to get out of the sunshine, or head to the Camp Gordon Johnston Museum to learn about the history of the area and the place where you’re staying!

Our home is equipped with Wi-Fi, premium linens, washer/dryer, dishwasher, fishing pole storage, an outdoor wash station to rinse the sand and salt off you and your equipment, a kitchen outfitted with everything you need to cook up your day’s catch, and even a telescope for a little late-night star gazing.

The Sandpiper was AMAZING
From the moment we checked in until the time we left, the Sandpiper was absolutely perfect! The place was spotless upon arrival and the space and accommodations were utilized perfectly, and we had everything we needed to make our stay seamless. Our host, Jeannine was so gracious, and allowed us a late checkout, which made a huge difference in our travels with 2 little ones. Her communication and response time was instant and we would highly recommend this place and hope to visit again soon!

Very clean and comfortable place
Stayed here for the FSU homecoming game as this location was less than an hour from Tallahassee, however this would be a great location for a fishing trip or a golf trip as well. Short drive to St. George Island or Alligator Point if beaches are desired. Very clean condo in a quiet neighborhood. Owner reached out to me before the trip as a hurricane threatened and was very helpful, offering a refund or change of date if available. Thankfully the hurricane didn’t come but it was nice that she offered.
