The log cabin was originally built in 1838. In the mid seventies the cabin was relocated from nearby onto a modern foundation perched upon the top of the hill. At this time of reconstruction a back kitchen & dining room, garage, second floor with 3 bedrooms and 3 covered/enclosed porches were added. Located in a charming setting for a very private little getaway or busy family gathering. With plenty of overflow space, all the kids can run and play right out front on the hills of grass while the adults relax on the porches enjoying the sound of running brooks and the spring fed waterwheel. Peace and seclusion are just a few of the attributes found here. A Captain's Cabin on 'Little Onion Mountain' has over five acres to roam without ever leaving the property. Yet it's conveniently located minutes to downtown Franklin, grocery stores, restaurants and 5-20 miles from 4 fabulous waterfalls, world class hiking in the Nantahala National Forest and the town of Highlands.

Lovely location
Overall my family enjoyed their stay at this property. The property is located in a very nice area with mini outdoor amenities. It’s very quiet and peaceful. The interior is quaint with all you need to get through the week. The furnishings in the living room and bedrooms uncomfortable and in need of an upgrade. The three Screened porches and rocking were very nice and allowed an area for peaceful meditation. If you’re looking for a simple place to relax and enjoy some time away from life this is it. I can’t wait for my next trip up there.
