About this property

Highland Lake Lodge- Your Country Home

We offer a country home for rent with 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen with 2 refrigerators, large main room and spacious screened in porch overlooking Highland Lake. Close to Wildflower Wedding Venue, Lake Fork, and Canton Trade Days. Now with Wifi!
Ideal for family gatherings, wedding families, church groups, crafters, fishermen (and women), and Trade Days shoppers.
Enjoy a little country time; watch the sunset from the porch and roast marshmallows in the evening around a campfire.
The space
We are 2 miles outside of Emory Texas, 20 miles north of Canton, and right between Lake Fork and Lake Tawakoni. We are adjacent to our small beef cattle ranch, with the Highland Lake inside it. It is really just a stock pond, but it has been named long again, and shows up on many maps. We are just across a pasture from the Wildflower Wedding Venue.
Emory has a nice Brookshire's grocery store and fun SideKick's Bar and Grill.
Canton has First Monday Trade Days.
Great fishing at Lake Tawakoni and Lake Fork.
We have plenty of room of boat trailers.
Guest access
You get the whole house and the large grassy lawn to park cars & boats.
Other things to note
I follow Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning protocol, which was developed with expert guidance. Here are a few highlights:
o I sanitize high-touch surfaces, down to the doorknob
o I use cleaners and disinfectants approved by global health agencies, and I wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination
o I clean each room using extensive cleaning checklists
o I provide extra cleaning supplies, so you can clean as you stay
o I comply with local laws, including any additional safety or cleaning guidelines

There is Guest book in the Lodge with local restaurants & menus.
There is a big Brookshire's grocery store in town 3 miles away.

The property was surrounded by peace and quiet. We sat out on the screened in porch every night and put a fire in the fire pit, and just enjoyed our time. We liked it so much that we booked a trip again later this year.

Wedding Stay
I rented the property to attend my daughters wedding that was very near there, all who stayed were from out of town. I had a problem and was I. The hospital and didn’t get to stay but property used by others in my group. The owners of the property were very understanding of the situation and very nice. The property is beautiful and all who stayed enjoyed it. I am hoping someday to return and enjoy it too. Wedding was also beautiful and my daughter very happy.

too many spiders
The host was very kind and helpful, but the house had wolf spiders. We killed 7 while we were there. I think their cleaning crew did not do a thorough job as they thought. The host informed us that they do not spray around the building exterior. They needed to spray for wasp as they were plentiful too. They provided towels, detergents, dishes, and sets for us which was nice but disappointed in the wasps and spiders.

Cozy Place
Great place stay was super close to the Wild Flower venue where we attended a wedding. Host was super nice and accommodating. Plenty of space, beds were comfortable. Would recommend this place. However there is no cable. Local antenna channels do not come in very clear. Being that it was cold outside the TV was a must for the smaller kids. We had to use our hotspots on our phones to use Netflix on the tv. But we made it work just fine. Handy man came on Saturday morning to blow off porch. All in all would recommend this place to stay.

Why they chose this property

Go back in time to your grandparent's country home. This was an original 50s house, with cute pink & blue tiles bathrooms. It was a quilting retreat for a decade. Now it has been refurbished, updated, to be enjoyed another generations.

What makes this property unique

Large screened in porch, large parking areas. 10-12 miles from Lake Fork and Lake Tawakoni, 20 min from Canton's First Monday Trade Days. We are just across a pasture from the Wildflower Wedding Venue.
We sleep 13 in 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths, large kitchen for family cooking, and a large mail room. We have a high chair, baby dishes. We also have a TV, DVD player, and an assortment of classic games.
We are struggling to get Wifi.
