BEWARE - Extremely Bad Experience!
First, when we booked this property it listed the location as being 1/2 mile from downtown, they have since changed the wording. We contacted them the evening we arrived because the neighborhood was so sketchy we felt unsafe and did not want to stay. We booked the house for the month and the neighborhood was completely misrepresented. We spoke with Joe numerous times throughout the evening. He finally offered for us to stay the night (for free) and to contact him in the morning to see if we would change our minds about the neighborhood once we saw it in the daylight. Although we were not thrived with the idea, we took him on his word. What we discovered once we stayed the night was that, not only is it in a bad neighborhood, the house wasn't cleaned. Tabletops were dirty, bathroom sinks weren't wiped down, hair in the drains to the point they would no longer drain and there was such a pile up on the furnace filter it looked as though a family of mice were living there. We sent the owners pictures and they accused us of bringing the dirt into the house, stating "we aren't stupid, we know of people like you"! Other than having the placed cleaned, they refused to work with us citing their refund policy and a very sarcastic "enjoy your stay". When we contacted them regarding the internet going out, they never responded. We contacted them regarding the bathroom door that wouldn't close because it was broken, they never responded. We contacted them that the plumbing under the kitchen sink was leaking. They finally responded that they would send a plumber over, which never happened. In all our years of renting through VRBO and A*** we have never had such unprofessional, uncaring owners as these two. They are simply out to make a quick buck at the expense of others.
As far as the neighborhood...the couple that live across the street are very sweet and were a godsend. BUT do not walk this neighborhood day or night. It is a high crime area. We were awakened several nights with the sound of gun fire.
Lesson learned to never take someone's word, especially these two. By the way, we were never reimbursed for the one "free" night that they repeatedly promised.
