About this property

Nestled in the Mountains near Dry Falls! Easy access!

Newly remodeled private modern farmhouse with easy access, nestled amongst the trees in a quiet neighborhood with rocking chair front porch to sit and listen to the Cullasaja River and enjoy a cup of morning coffee! Also enjoy the serene outdoors right in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains just minutes from downtown Franklin and Highlands/Cashiers. The waterfalls are a must see! This house sits right above the Cullasaja river so the sound of the rapids is in your back door! During the fall and winter you will have views of the river from the porch! We are just minutes from area attractions If you enjoy hiking, waterfalls, gem mining, snow tubing, rafting, fishing, riding motorcycles, and beautiful scenery this is the place for you!

We are centrally located between Franklin and Highlands/Cashiers. We are just minutes from Dry Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. The closest grocery store is 6 minutes away. Downtown Franklin is 8 minutes away with shopping, eating, and breweries. We are just 45 minutes from the Cherokee casino and 10 minutes from the Smoky Mountain Performing Arts Center! There are a lot of hiking trails in the area as well. Standing Indian Trail Peak, Nantahala National Forest, Wayah Bald Fire Tower, and Bartram Trail just to name a few.

We offer a fully equipped kitchen should you choose to eat in or just relax and go downtown to grab something from one of the local restaurants and take a stroll through all of the quaint little shops!

We like to refer to this property as Turtle Haven. It is named in a tribute to our parents. My mom and dad called each other “Big Turtle” after my mom endured chemotherapy treatments and lost all of her hair. She would be in bed under the blankets and my dad said she looked like a turtle. From that day forward they called each other “Big Turtle” . This is our way of keeping their memory alive. We hope you make lots of memories here just as we have!

Come visit Franklin, NC and see why “life is better in the country” and where southern hospitality is a way of life!

***There is a security camera on the exterior of the house. No indoor cameras!!!

Hello, My brother Mark and I will be your host during your stay. We grew up here on this very property which was once an apple orchard that our family owned and operated. Our grandparents lived in this very house. This property has been a part of our family for over 100 years. We couldn't bear the thoughts of selling out to someone else so we decided we would share it with you in hopes that you will create just many wonderful memories here as we have. We hope you enjoy your stay here and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to reach out. Selena and Mark
