** Sargassum seaweed affects the coasts of the Florida Keys. Islamorada has its share, which ebbs and flows based on winds and tides, collecting on the shoreline at different times of the year. Sargassum is just another part of Nature’s rich tapestry. In the open ocean, this seaweed serves as a nursery ground and natural haven for sea life. It offers food, sanctuary, and breeding grounds for crabs, shrimp, whales, sea turtles, migratory birds, and over 120 fish species. SPRING AND SUMMER MONTHS are greatly affected, as this is not cleared out during this time period. **

A Slice of Paradise
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hated to leave! This home is set up beautifully. The glass wall in the living room which opened to the covered porch, deck, and pool was a highlight. Those indoors were still a part of everything going on outdoors. The pool and hot tub were clean and warm and allowed all ages to enjoy time in the water together. Although beautiful to look at, we found the ocean floor too mucky and the water too shallow to do any swimming in it, but that's what the pool is for. We saw sting rays below the dock, and lizards and iguanas running across the driveway. Watching sailboats, fishing boats, and ships on the horizon was fun, and the sunrises were fantastic. We were able to lay in bed or sit on our bedroom deck and watch them. We played volleyball, collected sea shells, used the kayaks and bicycles, and enjoyed all the amenities of the house. Grandpa was able to have his own suite with gorgeous views of the pool and ocean. He liked having his own outdoor entrance. If we ever go back to that area of the Keys, we will most definitely stay here again.

Beautiful but
We had a great time, but overall for the money, the place was over priced. Cabinet door was off, freezer was broken, lights and fans were hanging or made horrific sounds. The seaweed was nasty and the pier was hardly in the water. I know about seaweed and tides, etc. I was just expecting more of a private beach. We even had people from other houses coming over to our side. Also we originally wanted Sat to Sat but had to change because the owners were using it that weekend, so they are the ones that broke things, left us with no ice and left trash for us to lug to the road???? Na was awesome though and they did come over and fix a few things. Like I said I loved it, just think it was way over priced and that we should have received a discount for the inconvenience of having handy men there 4 days out of our trip. Even the last day they had gutter guys there at 9am....sorry just not private enough
