Cleanliness, security, and smell
The house was clean upon first glance, but when you looked closer we found filth all over. There was oil covering cabinets above stove, sunflower shells near base boards, the washer was gross,a dirty towel shoved between the wall and washing machine. The smaller bathroom upstairs had hair on the wall, and dirt around the tub. There were crusty old slip on sandals on back porch. (That moved during our stay)
There is an in law suite that is attached to the house. This was disclosed in the description but I had no idea it was a section of the house makeshift separated to be a separate unit. In the kitchen there was a couple piece of drywall painted, textured, and screwed to an opening. There were two doors (garage and one in kitchen) that were inaccessible from main house, because the deadbolts were facing the in-law suite.. not sure if it was keyed on both sides. We all wished there was some sort of hotel latch style lock to ensure people weren’t able to access our side our absence. We could hear them talking, and a baby crying.
On our last night there, the people in the in-law suite cooked some very unpleasant smelling fish and our whole side was overwhelmed by the horrific odor. That particular night it was over 100° and we had to open the entire house and use fans (We brought)to help air out the house so we could sleep. When we were opening windows we noticed one of the kitchen windows was broken, the inside pane of glass. There was no broken glass but sharp edges.
