About this property

Mr. Gnomerson’s Hideaway | Wifi, AC, EV Charger

Mr. Gnomerson’s Hideaway is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom vacation cabin in Packwood, Washington.  Named in honor of our daughter’s gnome neighborhood located under a majestic cedar tree, this family-friendly rental is ready for fun in all seasons!  In the winter we are a short 25 minute drive to White Pass Ski Resort, a laid-back favorite with lessons, rentals and fun for both downhill and cross-country skiing.  In the summer our cabin is a quick walk to access the beautiful Cowlitz River and surrounding mountain views, a short drive to Mt. Rainier and the Goat Rocks Wilderness, and our secluded backyard looking out into the woods and surrounded by evergreens is the perfect place to relax and refresh.  In the fall maples change colors, in the spring the flowers bloom, and all year we have amazing hiking from an easy accessible walk to a backcountry challenge.   And of course, s’mores around the firepit are always in season! Whether it is cold or hot outside, your comfort is ensured by the mini-split system (heat/AC) that can be adjusted by room. The town of Packwood is about a five minute drive where you can grab groceries or take-out, kick back at the brewery while enjoying the view of Mt. Rainier, or hunt for treasure at the Thrift and Gift!

The cabin sleeps 7 on the available beds, for families with kids we can provide a pack-and-play, cot or floor pad if needed.  The primary bedroom has a queen bed and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower.  The second bedroom has a full size bed on the bottom bunk (arranged so it can be accessed from both sides, no need to crawl over your sleeping partner!) and twin on the top bunk.  The study has a comfortable fold out full size futon mattress.  All other mattresses are memory foam.  The other bathroom has a tub-shower combo. The cabin is also equipped with an EV Charger for guest use. It is a level 2 charger compatible with J1772 charging plug.

Our kitchen is well-stocked, and there is a propane gas grill on the back deck. And you don’t have to scrub dishes on vacation, we have a dishwasher for that!

For a cozy evening, curl up on the new couch and use the Roku TV to access your streaming services, or watch/record live TV with the complimentary YouTubeTV account.  The cabin also has games and books for your enjoyment.  Be sure to check out the owner’s guide detailing some of our favorite nature outings and places to visit in the area.

After a day of skiing or hiking feel free to run a load of laundry in our new washer/dryer in the garage.  The garage cannot accommodate a car, but if you would like to bring your bikes from home they can be securely stored there.  Packwood is an excellent place for biking, or to access mountain bike trails!

If you have to get a bit of work done while you are here, there is a desk with a comfortable chair in the study, and a docking station for the monitor you are free to use if needed.  The cabin has fast wifi that can accommodate your video meetings while the kids stream a show! We provide a guest account for YouTubeTV , which includes standard cable channels, or you can log into your account for Netflix, Hulu, and other streaming services.

Outdoor security camera installed above garage door to ensure safety and property protection. Footage is recorded, but not reviewed.

Winters in Packwood may get very snowy. It is the guests responsibility to be properly equipped for harsh winter driving conditions. We do our best to keep our cabins accessible, but winter traction tires and 4-wheel drive may still be required.

Lovely stay at the Gnomersons
My family and I stayed at the Gnomersons Hideaway last weekend for a ski trip. The place was great. Clean, cozy, lots of space for our family of 4. Great location, and wonderful hosts.

Mr Gnomerson's Hideaway was very nice
Mr Gnomerson's Hideaway was very clean and comfortable. It was a nice surprise to find many spices in the cabinets and condiments in the refrigerator. Plenty of dishes, wonderful washer & dryer, 2 bathrooms & 3 bedrooms. Good location for hiking at Mount Rainier. Nice info from the owners and TMC vacation rentals with tips on hikes, restaurants and use of the house.

Great Mt Rainier exploration point
Outside of the entry code not working which frankly was VERY upsetting to start the stay, the remainder of the experience could NOT BE BETTER. Place was immaculate, had all needed amenities and location was perfect for our first trip to Rainier. Packwood is a small gem of a town that was perfect for having places to visit for groceries, restaurants and yet not touristy and access to Sunrise area of Rainier from there was easy. If ever returning we would definitely look for this property as the one glitch of having the wrong entry code was quickly resolved although frankly something like that should NEVER happen. After a long drive there and thinking the code just becomes active after the checkin time we find out the proper code was never in place. Should've called earlier but didn't have good cell service and wasn't able for a bit. Worked out well once we were able to contact the manager of the place.

Very nice property! We loved the atmosphere and the grill was top notch! Air conditioning was great for the hot days and the bathrooms/showers were nice and updated. Stopping in town for great scenery and went to the local brewery for a beer and ice cream was a nice touch to the stay.
