About this property

Cozy Stylish Cottage In the City, Close to Everything GR, Extended Stay Welcome

In the heart of Grand Rapids sits the historic, quaint Alten City Cottage. Renovated, rich w/amenities, & centrally located blocks from several Iconic shopping & eating corridors: Eastown, Fulton Heights, & 1.5 miles to Downtown. I love the open floor plan, clean design, tall ceilings, cozy bedroom, & front yard.

All the comforts of home w/a fully stocked kitchen & hotel-like amenities. Mathias Alten, the world-known GR painter, built the "honeymoon cottage" for his daughters. Pets allowed.

The monthly rate is $2300 per month.
Full refund up to 30 days before check-in. After that, the first 30 days of the stay are non-refundable.

Stays are usually 28 days to two or three months, but there may be availability for shorter-term stays. Check the calendar for availability.

Safe, affluent, walkable, centrally located neighborhood. You will often see neighbors frequently walking their dogs. One of the more walkable areas of the city. You are 3 blocks from the large city farmers market that happens every Saturday morning. You are a few blocks from 2 different business district neighborhoods. You are within 5-10 minutes of 3 hospitals and a few minutes from the highway. The grocery store is 2 blocks away.

Please be mindful of neighbors after dark. No loud noises or music.

The property has everything you need for a comfortable stay. If staying for 28+ days a starter pack of common supplies will be provided.

Kitchen: Fully stocked with everything you would need to cook a meal: Air fryer, toaster, pots/pans, cookware, spices, wine glasses, cocktail shaker & basic condiments. Coffee & supplies included for short term stay.

Living space: The property offers internet, a TV in the living room w/YouTube TV, Netflix, etc. The property offers 2 ductless heating & AC units (like you would see at a hotel). The couch is a pull-down and sleeps one person (recommended for a child or someone under 5' 10"). The whole space offers privacy curtains & the living room lights are dimmable.

Bedroom: A queen bed, a dresser, a smart TV, and a closet to hang your clothes. The tap lights on the nightstands have USB hookups. The bedroom offers blackout curtains. The bathroom is off the bedroom.

Bathroom: Packages of soap, body wash, and shampoo are provided in the stand-up shower. You will find towels, hand towels, & wash clothes provided.

The home is completely yours while you are there.

December Stay
This property is so charming! The communication prior to our stay was excellent and prompt. Everything was very clean, tidy, and the kitchen had all that we needed! The best thing about this was the location, right on the edge of East GR with easy access to both EGR and Eastown. I highly recommend this for a weekend getaway!

Pre-Christmas Stay
Great stay, great area. One of the nicer VRBO's we'vd stayed in. Nice touches in the house made our stay very comfortable. Downtown is 5 minutes, grocery store around the corner. Will try to come back, if it's available!

Great space, great location
This quaint cottage is located in a great location for shopping, eating near Frederick Meijer gardens and downtown. The kitchen was stocked with what we needed to either make food or warm up leftovers. My only complaint is that the queen bed was too soft and not supportive enough for my back.

Why they chose this property

You will be hard-pressed to find a cottage-like home in the city of GR. The property has such a charm to it and so much character. I was drawn to the property the first time I stepped foot in the space. I am excited to be able to share it with everyone else.
