You have to open & close a road gate, then drive a very bumpy pasture road about 1/4 mile through the woods to this cabin. If you're still reading this, then you may want to be a guest here. This place is best suited for outdoorsy & somewhat adventurous travelers. It is a no frills, nothing fancy home located near the middle of a 180 acre ranch, but only about 10 miles from the bustling Main St. Of Fredericksburg. The place is very basic; cozy, quiet & comfortable. The ranch setting offers outdoor privacy & invites relaxation.
Don't bring your white gloves. This is what country folks call a camphouse. This cabin provides the fairly unique opportunity to experience the privacy of acreage, woods and fields, yet still be very convenient to the "full-on-go" of the Fredericksburg experience.
The cabin is well insulated; cool in summer and warm in winter. This is a nice BASIC ACCOMMODATION. It does NOT have all the amenities of the program style B&Bs. For example the bathroom is just a regular tub and shower combination. There is NO HOT TUB and NO CABLE TV,... but there is Internet and WIFI. You should be able to stream some content using the Roku device, but if you are counting on watching that particular “big game”, this is probably not the place you want to book.
An electric drip coffee maker with coffee and all the typical coffee related supplies is provided. An electric kettle and some tea is also provided.
Cellular service is limited here. AT&T provides a good 2-3 bar LTE signal in this area. HOWEVER **** SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE have “VERY POOR” or “NONEXISTENT” cellular signals at this property. If you are heavily reliant on your phone, and don’t have AT&T, you may be very frustrated at this property.
If you book this property you will be able to check yourself in at the property. All the final location and check in details will be provided to you on the day of your scheduled arrival, after the housekeeping and make ready is complete.
The yard area is about 1/2 acre. There is a covered back porch, shade trees, a fire ring and some BBQ pits/grills. Guests are welcome to walk (or mountain bike) the property; however, guests are not authorized to operate any vehicles on the property other than normal street legal passenger vehicles, and those only on the road from the house to the entrance gate. Guest vehicles are not allowed in the pasture or elsewhere on the ranch.
Other things to note
This is a nice BASIC cabin, but it does NOT have all the amenities of typical B&Bs. For example the bathroom is just a regular tub and shower combination. There is NO HOT TUB. There is NO CABLE TV, but there is WIFI and a TV equipped with a Roku streaming device.
Cellular phone service is limited here. AT&T provides a good 2-3 bar LTE signal in this area.
BUT........SPRINT, VERIZON and T-MOBILE have POOR or even NONEXISTENT SIGNALS at this property!!!!!. If you are heavily dependent on your phone, this place could be very frustrating to you.
There is a flatscreen TV where, if you are technical, you can connect your computer or other device via HDMI if so inclined. There is a DVD player and a very random supply of movies. You should be able to stream some content using the Roku device.
The house is equipped with the basics, and most guests should find it fitting for their needs and expectations if the goal is to tour, see the sights, experience Fredericksburg and then afterwards have a nice quiet place to relax with lots of "elbow room" and excellent stargazing on a clear night. If you are coming to see the Hill Country rather than watch TV, this might be the place for you!
