About this property

Mt Marathon View-Historic Dwtn

One of Seward’s Historical Downtown buildings and originally a boarding house from the old railroad days. This building has been hosting guests for over 100 years!
This charming and cozy 1 bedroom is centrally located in the heart of downtown. Just 1 block from Resurrection Bay and the Sea Life Center and 1 street over from downtown shops and restaurants. This rental has been totally renovated but we kept some of the old charm. Great walking path 1 block away. Small but quaint.

Matt and I re both from the Midwest - MN and IA. We met in Denver and moved to Alaska in 2002. We absolutely love traveling and being hosts, mostly to share stories and adventures. When we get a chance to talk with our guests, it renews our love for our home and community. We are so blessed. We want to share this blessing with everyone.

Why they chose this property

I love being 1 block from the water and in the heart of downtown. We walk the path along the harbor daily, no mater the weather. it is one of the oldest buildings in Seward and we loved the history and the possibilities to bring it back to life. We have worked hard to provide a nice clean quaint and quiet place to stay. We have local residents in the building who you may run into out and about. Some are born and raised in Seward!!

What makes this property unique

This property is very unique. It is one of Seward's oldest buildings build in either 1905 or 1906. It was a boarding house to the railroad workers in the early 1900's. It survived the 1964 earthquake tsunami. In 2017, we bought this run down virtually empty building and spent every weekend for 6 years coming down from Anchorage and renovating the entire place. Just mu husband and I. We have finally moved to Seward and love this amazing community. We hope you love what we have done to restore history.
