About this property

1930’s Guest Cottage and Vintage Shop with 1/2 Bath and Full Bed

Our 1930’s cottage and vintage shop sits adjacent to our private residence, but offers privacy as it stands alone with its own private entrance, carport, and parking. Enjoy some the beautiful surrounding trees, fresh coffee on the bistro table/chairs, a fire in the adjacent fire pit, or let your little ones play in our fenced-in yard/swing set. Our home is set in a beautiful wooded area, on a private driveway, but is less than a ten minute drive from downtown Winston Salem or Wake Forest University. We’re also a two minute drive from popular Muddy Creek Parkway (perfect for an afternoon stroll). A window AC unit is available for use upon request (there is currently no heat source other than a plug in space heater), and cold water is accessed for use in the half bath (but there is currently no shower or tub). This cottage doubles as a local vintage shop and all items are available for purchase through our Venmo account. Come relax, and soak in all WS/NC has to offer!

Our experience with Katy and her cottage in Winston Salem was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we initiated communication, Katy was incredibly helpful and proactive, providing us with valuable recommendations for exploring the area. Upon our arrival, we were warmly welcomed with freshly baked muffins, a heartfelt handwritten note, and a message through VRBO. Throughout our stay, Katy and her family were gracious hosts, making us feel right at home and adding an extra layer of warmth to our getaway. The cottage itself was absolutely charming and served as the perfect backdrop for a cozy weekend retreat. Adorned with vintage decor, it exuded character. The outdoor seating area provided a picturesque setting to soak in the beautiful surroundings. Katy went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, proactively informing us about the 1/2 bathroom situation and generously offering alternative solutions in case we needed them. Located in a private and secure area, the cottage provided easy access to various attractions in Winston Salem, including downtown, West End, Old Salem, Wake Forest, and Lawrence Joel Veterans Coliseum. With everything just a short drive away, we were able to explore the city at our leisure without any hassle. Overall, our stay at Katy's cottage was a delightful experience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a tranquil and charming getaway. Thank you, Katy, for your hospitality!

Our family has enjoyed calling Winston home for three years now! We both work in the Nonprofit sector and enjoy serving organizations whose missions impassion us. In our spare time, we enjoy building, restoring our home, gardening, hosting family, friends, and visitors to the area.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the privacy of our land, the beautiful trees that surround us, and proximity to all of the best Winston has to offer.

What makes this property unique

The history! We love the age of our cottage, and that our land was once family land with multiple family members who built their homes with proximity to one another.
