High Hopes Dashed
I had high hopes for this property from the reviews and general listing, but was sadly disappointed. PROS: - Interior design and style of the house was inviting and so charming - Proximity to downtown Raleigh was convenient CONS: - The location of the house was very questionable and the pictures in the listing did an excellent job masking that. Immediately upon pulling into the driveway for check-in we were approached by someone insisting that we roll our window down asking for money. The very charming front porch was a let down, as we didn't feel comfortable sitting out there without strangers coming up to approach us. - Contact with the property owner was one of the most disappointing parts of our stay. His welcome message indicated that we shouldn't hesitate to message with issues; however, when we walked in the door after check-in we were greeted with a chirping, dead-battery smoke detector. When we reached out, he didn't respond until the next day. Any contact we tried to have was answered many hours later. When I addressed this, he blamed the VRBO app's messaging function, which we used to book the property. - We invited our friends we were visiting to come join us in the cute backyard from the pictures, we were met with furniture that was turned over, pillows that were busted, and chairs that were too rickety to be used. All in a yard with no light in a questionable area. - The driveway was littered with trash from someone else, that no one bothered to pick up.

Beautiful Interior!
We were a little nervous about the neighborhood as we pulled up, but it turns out we had nothing to worry about. The house was very secure (electronic keypad entry and easy to lock) and really beautiful inside. The beds were SO comfortable. Really unbelievably comfortable- I didn’t want to go home to my own bed! And the whole design of each room made us want to redo our own place. The kitchen was cute and spacious and had lovely coffee samples available. It’s attached to the living room and dining room areas which had a moveable flatscreen tv and plenty of seating. We didn’t end up using the backyard, but it looked great! A hammock and a fire pit and everything. I’d recommend this house for a couple, or a group of friends, or a family.
